High Quality Reconstruction of Dynamic Objects using 2D-3D Camera Fusion
2017
International audience; In this paper, we propose a complete pipeline for high quality reconstruction of dynamic objects using 2D-3D camera setup attached to a moving vehicle. Starting from the segmented motion trajectories of individual objects, we compute their precise motion parameters, register multiple sparse point clouds to increase the density, and develop a smooth and textured surface from the dense (but scattered) point cloud. The success of our method relies on the proposed optimization framework for accurate motion estimation between two sparse point clouds. Our formulation for fusing it closest-point and it consensus based motion estimations, respectively in the absence and pres…
A coarse to fine 3D acquisition system
2015
International audience; The 3D chain (acquisition-processing-compression) is , most of the time , sequenced into several steps. Such approaches result into an one-dense acquisition of 3D points. In large scope of applications , the first processing step consists in simplifying the data. In this paper , we propose a coarse to fine acquisition system which permits to obtain simplified data directly from the acquisition. By calculating some complementary information from 2D images , such as 3D normals , multiple homogeneous regions will be segmented and affected to a given primitive class. Contrary to other studies , the whole process is not based on a mesh. The obtained model is simplified di…
STEP 0: Initial Scenario
2011
The main purpose of this video-tutorial is to show you how to clone a DB2 subsystem to other subsystem running in the same Z/OS LPAR. Each step is explained with a video (screen cast). It is supossed that you have two DB2 subsystems, in this case DB8G (source) and DBF (target), both up & running. The procedure is automated in three main steps contained in library SYSADM.ODBCLONE. First step is related with the physical COPY from SOURCE datasets to TARGET DB2 datasets. While the remaining, are related with making target DB2 BSDS & CATALOG consistent with the location of the DATASETS copied from source subsystem
STEP 3: Restart Target DB2
2011
Finally, we RESTART TARGET DB2 and it's stopped databases.
Multisensory texture exploration at the tip of the pen
2016
A tool for the multisensory stylus-based exploration of virtual textures was used to investigate how different feedback modalities (static or dynamically deformed images, vibration, sound) affect exploratory gestures. To this end, we ran an experiment where participants had to steer a path with the stylus through a curved corridor on the surface of a graphic tablet/display, and we measured steering time, dispersion of trajectories, and applied force. Despite the variety of subjective impressions elicited by the different feedback conditions, we found that only nonvisual feedback induced significant variations in trajectories and an increase in movement time. In a post-experiment, using a pa…
Toward a real-time tracking of dense point-sampled geometry
2012
4 pages; International audience; In this paper, we address the problem of tracking temporal deformations between two arbitrary densely sampled point-based surfaces. We propose an intuitive and efficient resolution to the point matching problem within two frames of a sequence. The proposed method utilizes two distinct space partition trees, one for each point cloud, which both are defined on a unique discrete space. Our method takes advantage of multi-resolution concerns, voxel adjacency relations, and a specific distance function. Experimental results obtained from both simulated and real reconstructed data sets demonstrate that the proposed method can handle efficiently the tracking proces…
SfM Techniques Applied in Bad Lighting and Reflection Conditions: The Case of a Museum Artwork
2019
In recent years, SfM techniques have been widely used especially in the field of Cultural Heritage. Some applications, however, remain undefined in cases where the boundary conditions are not suitable for the technique. Examples of this are instances where there are poor lighting conditions and the presence of glass and reflective surfaces. This paper presents a case study where SfM is applied, using a DSLR camera (Nikon D5200), to the “Head of Hades” inside a glass theca and under a large number of light sources at different distances and of different intensities and sizes. The geometric evaluation has been made comparing the DSLR camera model against the 3D data acquired with structured l…
Processing of 3D Models for Networking of CH in Geomatics
2020
In recent times the possibility of reconstruction of complex 3D Cultural Heritage (CH) environments has opened new scenarios for touristic and scientific aims. The different needs for networking or conservation purposes of CH lead to study proper structuring of 3D models. In light of this, a scientific approach has been developed in order to test the networking capabilities, comparing different loading configurations of 3D environments with multiple combinations of 3D models inside them, considering different solutions. This experimentation has been based on WebGL-HTML5 technologies and allowed to discover the true balance between performances of proposed system, the quality of visualizatio…
Exploiting Low-Cost 3D Imagery for the Purposes of Detecting and Analyzing Pavement Distresses
2020
Road pavement conditions have significant impacts on safety, travel times, costs, and environmental effects. It is the responsibility of road agencies to ensure these conditions are kept in an acceptable state. To this end, agencies are tasked with implementing pavement management systems (PMSs) which effectively allocate resources towards maintenance and rehabilitation. These systems, however, require accurate data. Currently, most agencies rely on manual distress surveys and as a result, there is significant research into quick and low-cost pavement distress identification methods. Recent proposals have included the use of structure-from-motion techniques based on datasets from unmanned a…
3D visualization of engendering collaborative leadership in the space
2012
The paper focuses on collaborative leadership in education and how to illustrate its engendering process in a three-dimensional space. This complex and fluid process is examined as distributed and pedagogical within a Finnish vocational upper secondary educational organization. As a consequence, the notion of distributed pedagogical leadership is used when collaborative leadership in education is studied. Collaborative leadership is argued to consist of the innermost substance of a professional learning community, as attributes of a group of people working together for specific purposes. Therefore, collaborative leadership naturally involves actors, activities, and context. However, the inn…
