ChemInform Abstract: Eco-Friendly Functionalization of Natural Halloysite Clay Nanotube with Ionic Liquids by Microwave Irradiation for Suzuki Coupli…

2014

Abstract Microwave assisted halloysite (HNT) external surface functionalization with ionic liquids is described. HNTs modification was achieved in two steps: a) grafting of 3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane on the external surface of HNT by a microwave irradiation; b) anchorage of vinylimidazolium ionic liquids by a thiol-ene reaction. MW irradiation allowed us to obtain high loading onto the HNT surface compared to those obtained through conventional synthesis. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis confirmed that the grafting has occurred only on the external surface of HNT. Turbidimetric and dynamic light scattering analyses showed that the introduction of…

Thermal degradation of highly crosslinked rigid PU-PIR foams based on high functionality tall oil polyol

2019

Abstract This study presents the development and analysis of rigid polyurethane-polyisocyanurate (PU-PIR) foam synthesized from high functionality tall oil (TO) based polyols. Three PU-PIR formulations with varied high functionality TO based polyol content (45, 75 and 95 pbw) and a different tier of isocyanate (NCO) indexes (110, 150, 200, 300 and 400) for each formulation were compared to a formulation developed using conventional raw materials, mainly obtained from petrochemicals. Using the Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis (FTIR), the chemical structure of the foams was evaluated with emphasis on the characteristic PU-PIR signal ratio and isocyanurate signal peaks. The thermal…

Dispersion of titanate nanotubes for nanomedicine: comparison of PEI and PEG nanohybrids.

2014

In the present study, we report the dispersion of titanate nanotubes (TiONts) via polymer grafting (PolyEthylene Glycol, PEG) or polymer adsorption (polyethylene imine, PEI) where different TiONts/polymer ratios have been investigated. The TiONts/PEI and TiONts/PEG nanohybrids were characterized by scanning and transmission electron microscopy as well as by zeta potential measurements in order to determine both their dispersion state and stability in water (at different pH for zetametry). The nature of the chemical bonds at the surface of these nanohybrids was investigated by Fourier-transformed infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy while the grafting densities of PEG on the nanotubes were quantifie…

The effect of silica nanoparticles on the morphology, mechanical properties and thermal degradation kinetics of PMMA

2012

Abstract Silica–PMMA nanocomposites with different silica quantities were prepared by a melt compounding method. The effect of silica amount, in the range 1–5 wt.%, on the morphology, mechanical properties and thermal degradation kinetics of PMMA was investigated by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), 13 C cross-polarization magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 13 C{ 1 H} CP-MAS NMR) and measures of proton spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame ( T 1 ρ ( H )), in the laboratory frame ( T 1 ( H )) a…

Structural, spectral, and magnetic properties of end-to-end di-mu-thiocyanato-bridged polymeric complexes of Ni(II) and Co(II). X-ray crystal structu…

2002

Thiocyanatonickel(II) and thiocyanatocobalt(II) complexes of the composition Ni(NCS)(2)(HIm)(2) (1) and Co(NCS)(2)(HIm)(2) (2), where HIm = imidazole, were prepared and studied. In particular, the crystal structure of Ni(NCS)(2)(HIm)(2) was determined by X-ray methods. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/n, with a = 7.720(1) A, b = 5.557(1) A, c = 13.774(3) A, beta = 102.54(3) degrees, and Z = 2. Its structure consists of a one-dimensional polymeric chain in which nickel(II) ions are bridged by two thiocyanate groups bonding in an end-to-end fashion in a trans arrangement. The Ni...Ni distance is 5.557(1) A. The crystal packing is determined by the intermo…

FT-IR spectroscopic investigation of bacterial cell envelopes from Zymomonas mobilis which have different surface hydrophobicities

2013

Abstract Changes in the cell envelope composition of bacteria Zymomonas mobilis 113S which resulted in varied cell surface hydrophobicity (CSH) were examined using FT-IR-spectroscopy and conventional methods of biochemical analysis. Significant differences in all analyses were detected between hydrophilic and hydrophobic compounds in the envelopes of Z. mobilis . A significant positive linear relationship ( P Z. mobilis and the ratio of absorbance band intensities assigned to the CH 2 and CH 3 vibrations from lipids as well as the asymmetric and symmetric stretching vibrations of these methylene and methyl groups. Differences were also seen between the ratio of band absorbances arising from…

UV-photometrische analyse kationisch erzeugter polystyrole, 1. Nachweis des covalenten einbaus von acylresten aus aromatischen acylperchloraten

1983

Polymerization of styrene was found not to take place with 4-phenylazobenzoyl perchlorate in benzene solution. 4-Biphenylcarbonyl perchlorate, however, initiates styrene polymerization under the same conditions leading to a product not containing acyl groups as indicated by UV spectroscopic analysis. 4-Phenylazobenzoyl, 2-naphthoyl, and 9,10-dioxo-2-anthracenecarbonyl perchlorate (6b, 7b, and 8b), prepared form silver perchlorate and the corresponding acyl chlorides 6a, 7a, and 8a in styrene, were found to initiate the polymerization of styrene under anhydrous conditions at −25°C in the dark. By UV spectroscopy it could be shown that the resulting polymers contain covalently bound acyl grou…

Cyclopolymerisation einiger glutardialdehyde. Struktur der polymeren

1962
