Application of neural networks in diagnostics of chemical compounds based on their infrared spectra
2017
Abstract The paper presents possibilities of using the so-called „finger-print“ identification method and artificial neural network (ANN) for diagnosis of chemical compounds. The construction of a tool specifically developed for this purpose and the ANN, as well as the required conditions for its proper functioning were described. The identification of chemical compounds was tested in two different ways for proving correctness of the assumptions. First of all, initial studies were carried out with the objective to verify the proper functioning of the developed procedure for IR spectrum interpretation. The second research stage was to find out how the properties of artificial neural networks…
Spectroscopic studies of semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes
2010
The unique nature of optical properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT), together with their promising potential applications, have created enormous interest towards the photophysics of SWCNT. Many aspects of carbon nanotubes originate from the electronic structure of carbon honeycomb lattice and one-dimensionality. SWCNTs exist in various chiral structures and diameters, which the optical and electrical properties are dependent on. It has been discovered that SWCNT excited states are excitonic with strong Coulomb interaction between the electron and the hole. However, many features of excitons are not yet well defined, such as absorption cross-sections, fluorescence quantum yield…
Remote Sensing of 3-D Geometry and Surface Moisture of a Peat Production Area Using Hyperspectral Frame Cameras in Visible to Short-Wave Infrared Spe…
2016
Miniaturized hyperspectral imaging sensors are becoming available to small unmanned airborne vehicle (UAV) platforms. Imaging concepts based on frame format offer an attractive alternative to conventional hyperspectral pushbroom scanners because they enable enhanced processing and interpretation potential by allowing for acquisition of the 3-D geometry of the object and multiple object views together with the hyperspectral reflectance signatures. The objective of this investigation was to study the performance of novel visible and near-infrared (VNIR) and short-wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral frame cameras based on a tunable Fabry–Pérot interferometer (FPI) in measuring a 3-D digital sur…

Data set: Towards a rapid screening of liver grafts at the operating room using mid-infrared spectroscopy
2020
The estimation of steatosis in a liver graft is mandatory prior to liver transplantation, as the risk of graft failure increases with the level of infiltrated fat. However, the assessment of liver steatosis before transplantation is typically based on a qualitative or semi-quantitative characterization by visual inspection and palpation, and histological analysis. Thus, there is an unmet need for transplantation surgeons to have access to a diagnostic tool enabling an in situ fast classification of grafts prior extraction. In this study, we have assessed an Attenuated Total Reflection-Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopic method compatible with the requirements of an operation…

Vibrational Spectroscopy
2015
The molecular information provided by the vibrational spectra obtained by both absorption in the near-infrared and middle-infrared range and Raman dispersion has been critically evaluated to obtain specific information for the authentication of protected designation of origin foods and other food geographical indications. The literature in this field has been updated and the capability of the vibrational spectra to provide discrimination between foods produced in different areas and by using different processes are also discussed.
Methods for the vibrational spectroscopy analysis of beers
2009
The main possibilities and drawbacks of vibrational spectroscopy techniques, infrared (both in the middle and near infrared ranges) and Raman, for the analysis of beers have been reviewed taking into consideration methods proposed in the scientific literature for the determination of as many as possible compounds and parameters of beers. Details about the procedures available and comments on the future developments in this field have been based on the experience of authors and extended checking of the characteristics of the procedures published till now.
High-resolution spectroscopy and analysis of the ν4 band of 80SeF6
2001
Abstract The Fourier-transform spectrum of the ν4 bending region of 80 SeF 6 around 435 cm −1 has been recorded at a temperature of 217 K with a resolution of 2.3×10 −3 cm −1 . This fundamental has been analyzed using the set of programs called highly spherical top data system (HTDS). Altogether 958 transitions were assigned and fitted with an rms of 0.0003 cm −1 . The effective Hamiltonian was developed up to the fourth order. Parameters and simulations are presented. The ν4 band center is located at 435.099 cm −1 .
