El Corredor Mediterráneo

2016

PALERMO 2030: The Mediterranean City in Transition

2019

The Mediterranean cities in particular, thanks to the concentration of complexity / diversity and multiplicity are the most suitable places to start a transition so as to turn the contradictions of the urban system into an opportunity for transformation. The process of knowledge based on the observation of the cities becomes fundamental in a context such as that of Palermo, which is characterized by growing levels of complexities and uncertainty. In this context a critical process has been initiated just to recognize the city of Palermo and its main characters. Starting from this process several priority elements and different alternatives have been identified with continuous reviewing just…

On How to Build SDI Using Social Networking Principles in the Scope of Spatial Planning and Vocational Education

2011

Several ways how to build a spatial data infrastructure usable for spatial planning domain exist. It must be said that today the area of spatial planning is under the influence of the European INSPIRE directive. It is necessary to spread an awareness about how to build this infrastructure in terms of INSPIRE. The article describes the current ways how to build the spatial data infrastructure. Furthermore, a new approach - GeoPortal4everybody, based also on using of social networking principles is proposed. Next, the paper presents using of GeoPortal4everybody concept as a part of technological framework for vocational education partially developed in the SDI-EDU project. This project aims o…

Déplacements et mutations spatiales à Alger

2019

Algiers port and city’s exceptional history is driven by its remarkable site nestled on a rocky spur. Revealed.Yet this morphology constrained the urban growth of a city that could pretend joigning the ranks of large metropolis. During its history port and city relationship took multiple forms, frequently compatible yet sometimes divergent and even opposed, leading to inversing domination status of both actors. Algiers capital of a 40 million inhabitants state, has always been a laboratory of urban politics since the colonial era to the institutional constructions of independent Algeria, regardless of deficient statistical tools. However, the space in Algiers is confronted to great challeng…

Measurement uncertainty impact on simplified load flow analysis in MV smart grids

2018

This work is focused on the measurement uncertainty impact on load flow analysis in medium voltage (MV) distribution networks. In more detail, the paper presents the uncertainty evaluation of a simplified load flow algorithm, which is based on the load power measurements at each secondary substation and one voltage measurement at the slack bus (i.e. the voltage at the MV bus bars of the primary substation). To reduce the costs of the monitoring system, the load flow algorithm makes use of LV load power measurements for all the substations except those of MV users, where MV transducers are usually already installed. The uncertainties on the algorithm input quantities (load powers and slack b…

À la recherche des maillages communaux d'antan. Présentation du projet ANR COMMUNES et de quelques résultats préliminaires

2020

The COMMUNES project aims: 1) to produce the first H-GIS in the world providing annualised boundary data for all French municipalities from the Revolution to the present day. Each spatial unit will include population data and metrics of access to networks of transport; 2) to develop a multimodal model of transport to allow the dynamic analysis of the relationship between economic and demographic changes and accessibility from the end of the 18th century to the present day; 3) to represent and analyse on a very fine scale some key demographic and socio-economic phenomena. Our method for reconstructing historic administrative boundaries combines the study of historical and cartographic source…

The Open Innovation in Science research field: a collaborative conceptualisation approach

2020

Openness and collaboration in scientific research are attracting increasing attention from scholars and practitioners alike. However, a common understanding of these phenomena is hindered by disciplinary boundaries and disconnected research streams. We link dispersed knowledge on Open Innovation, Open Science, and related concepts such as Responsible Research and Innovation by proposing a unifying Open Innovation in Science (OIS) Research Framework. This framework captures the antecedents, contingencies, and consequences of open and collaborative practices along the entire process of generating and disseminating scientific insights and translating them into innovation. Moreover, it elucidat…

How to create international business competences and their impact on firm performance

2014

[EN] This work aims to analyse the effect of the holistic view, continuous learning and information technology infrastructure on the creation of international business competences. The study also investigates whether the creation of this type of competence significantly affects firm performance using the structural equation modelling method of hypothesis testing. A survey of 257 companies from the biotechnology and telecommunications industries verifies the mediating role of international business competences. These findings suggest that managers should emphasise the creation of a holistic view, promote continuous learning and improve the information technology infrastructure in order to de…
