Robotic-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy with vascular resection. Description of the surgical technique and analysis of early outcomes

Abstract Background Despite the potential benefits, the adoption of the minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of borderline resectable pancreatic cancer is still in the initial phase. We investigated the safety and feasibility of the robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy with venous resection/reconstruction (RPD SMV/PV). Methods Since March 2013 to October 2019, a total of 73 RPD and 10 RPD SMV/PV were performed. The two groups were case-matched according to the preoperative characteristics. A method for rapid implantation of multielectrode systems.

The implantation of several chronic electrodes at the same time was needed for the studies in which both evoked slow potential and multiple unit neural activity of different brain sites were recorded during classical conditioning in freely moving cats. The recording electrodes were made of 25-75 microns insulated stainless steel or nichrome wires which were inserted into a thin hypodermic needle of a fixed, calibrated length. Studies on the kinetics and renal excretion of low and high molecular weight dextrans in preterm babies, newborns and young infants.

Administration of low and high molecular weight dextrans in the initial phase of shock is no longer controversial. The special conditions in newborns, however, have been insufficiently considered in planning therapy. This investigation aimed at determining the biological half-lives of dextran 40 (Rheomacrodex®) and dextran 60 (Macrodex®) in this age group. The half-life of dextran 40 was found to be 60 min and that of dextran 60 3 h. Preterm babies and newborns excrete up to 25% less dextran 40 and 60 in 24 h than infants and adults. Normal adult values for excretion are only reached towards the end of the first year of life.

The H-graph with equal masses in terms of multiple polylogarithms

The initial phase of the inspiral process of a binary system producing gravitational waves can be described by perturbation theory. At the third post-Minkowskian order a two-loop double box graph, known as H-graph contributes. We consider the case where the two objects making up the binary system have equal masses. We express all master integrals related to the equal-mass H-graph up to weight four in terms of multiple polylogarithms. We provide a numerical program which evaluates all master integrals up to weight four in the physical regions with arbitrary precision.

Suppression of noise in FitzHugh–Nagumo model driven by a strong periodic signal

Abstract The response time of a neuron in the presence of a strong periodic driving in the stochastic FitzHugh–Nagumo model is investigated. We analyze two cases: (i) the variable that corresponds to membrane potential is subjected to fluctuations, and (ii) the recovery variable associated with the refractory properties of a neuron is noisy. The influence of noise sources on the delay of the response of a neuron is analyzed. In both cases we observe a resonant activation-like phenomenon and suppression of noise: the negative effect of fluctuations on the process of spike generation is minimal near the resonance region. INFLUENCE OF THE INITIAL PHASE PROFILE ON THE ASYMPTOTIC SELF-SIMILAR PARABOLIC DYNAMICS

International audience; We describe the influence of the initial phase profile on the convergence towards asymptotic self-similar parabolic shape. More precisely, based on numerical simulations, we discuss the impact of an initial linear chirp and a p phase shift. If the parabolic shape has been found to describe accurately the pulse envelope, dark structures can appear and evolve also self-similarly on the parabolic background.

Heterogeneous nucleation of colloidal melts under the influence of shearing fields

Large, oriented single crystals may be obtained from shear melts of colloidal particles after nucleation at the container walls. We are here interested in the processes occurring during the initial phase of their formation. Using different microscopic and scattering techniques we here studied highly charged suspensions of spherical particles, dispersed in low salt or deionized water, in single and double wall confinement, during and after cessation of shear.
