Selvitin pro gradu -tutkielmassani maatalousoppilaitoksen opiskelijoiden käsityksiä äidinkielestä ammattikoulussa, miten tärkeänä sitä pidetään tulevaa ammattia ajatellen ja millaiseksi opetus mielletään. Lisäksi tarkastelin myös, millaisina opiskelijat kokevat omat taitonsa äidinkielen eri osa-alueilla. Aihe on ajankohtainen, sillä toisen asteen ammatilliset oppilaitokset työllistävät koko ajan enemmän myös äidinkielen opettajia. Tutkimukseni aihe on tärkeä, koska ammatillisen puolen äidinkielenopetus on monelle vieras kenttä opetusmaailmassa, mutta samalla se on merkittävä osa jokaista koulutusalaa. Kohti inklusiivista opettajuutta ja musiikkioppilaitosta

Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää Musiikin erityispedagogiikan osaamiskeskittymä (MEOK) -hankkeen täydennyskoulutukseen osallistuneiden musiikkipedagogien näkemyksiä inkluusiosta. Pedagogien näkemyksiä inkluusiosta tarkasteltiin kolmen teeman kautta: asenne erilaisia oppijoita kohtaan, kokemukset täydennyskoulutuksesta inklusiivisen opettajuuden vahvistajana sekä näkemykset musiikkioppilaitoksen tarpeesta kehittyä inklusiiviseksi. Tutkimus on laadullinen fenomenografinen tapaustutkimus, jonka tutkimusmateriaali kerättiin puolistrukturoiduilla yksilöhaastatteluilla. Haastateltavia pedagogeja oli neljä. History Matters: Colonial‑Based Connectivity and Foreign Headquarter Location Choice

AbstractIn this study, we argue that European countries’ extensive relationships with former colonies represent a location factor that attracts foreign headquarter investments. The strategic role of foreign headquarters as coordinators, opportunity detectors, and global bridgeheads makes the location choice of headquarter activities sensitive to historical-based institutional connections. Drawing on a sample of 2230 foreign headquarter investments in Europe, we find that the stronger the combined effect of historical connections and current economic relationships with former colonies, the higher the probability of attracting headquarter investment projects. Intrinsic spin-orbit interaction in diffusive normal wire Josephson weak links: Supercurrent and density of states

We study the effect of the intrinsic (Rashba or Dresselhaus) spin-orbit interaction in superconductor--nanowire--superconductor (SNS) weak links in the presence of a spin-splitting field that can result either from an intrinsic exchange field or the Zeeman effect of an applied field. We solve the full non-linear Usadel equations numerically and analyze the resulting supercurrent through the weak link and the behavior of the density of states in the center of the wire. We point out how the presence of the spin-orbit interaction gives rise to a long-range spin triplet supercurrent, which remains finite even in the limit of very large exchange fields. Biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles have been prepared by UV irradiation of an acryloylated water soluble polymer by an inverse microemulsion. The starting polymer was a α,β‐poly(N‐2‐hydroxyethyl)‐D,L‐aspartamide (PHEA) partially functionalized with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) in order to introduce reactive vinyl groups in the side chain. This thesis is a case study about the groundwater contamination of Korneuburg, Austria. The company Kwizda was responsible for pesticides leaking into the groundwater. The contamination was kept quiet with the help of local authorities and would have never come to light if not for the diligent efforts of affected residents. Their collaboration with environmental activists and a journalist led to the uncovering of the incident, eventually leading to remediation measures and lawsuits. While public attention to the issue was high, the authorities approved a controversial remediation measure that would lead to further pollution. My dissertation deals with the most important female figures of the Finnish national epic New Kalevala (1849): Aino, Louhi, Lemminkäinen’s mother and Marjatta. The epic was compiled by Elias Lönnrot (1802–1884) from Karelian and Finnish oral folklore. My reading leans on the intuitive night side of knowledge, which Lönnrot (1832) introduced as a counterpart to the day side of rational knowledge. To illustrate the logic of the night side of knowledge, I analyse Lönnrot as both a collector of oral folklore and a compiler of a work of epic poetry. I propose that Lönnrot’s choice of presenting the Kalevala as an epic – a total work of art – provided the stories of its female characters with the…
