Biological and anticancer properties of Inonotus obliquus extracts

2018

Abstract Inonotus obliquus (IO) has traditionally been used in folk medicine in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The aim of our study was to evaluate the biological and metabolic properties of IO extracts. Free radical scavenging properties, inhibition of the activity of xanthine oxidase (XOi), induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, cell viability and expression of superoxide dismutase (SOD1), catalase (CAT) and KI67 mRNA in the human colorectal adenocarcinoma (Caco-2) and normal human skin fibroblast (BJ) cell lines were measured. It was found that 80% ethanol extract of IO exhibited the highest properties inhibiting the activit…

Lanostanoids from fungi: a group of potential anticancer compounds.

2012

Lanostanes are a group of tetracyclic triterpenoids derived from lanosterol. They have relevant biological and pharmacological properties, such as their cytotoxic effects via induction of apoptosis. This review compiles the most relevant lanostanoids studied from 2000 to 2011, principally those isolated from Ganoderma lucidum and other related fungi, such as Poria cocos, Laetiporus sulphureus, Inonotus obliquus, Antrodia camphorata, Daedalea dickinsii, and Elfvingia applanata, which have great potential as anticancer agents because of their cytotoxic or apoptotic effects. The compounds were selected on the basis of their proapoptotic mechanisms, through their ability to modify transcription…

Čagas (Inonotus obliquus) lipofīlo ekstraktvielu profila analītiskais raksturojums un autentiskuma novērtējums

2021

Nuovi ospiti di Inonotus tamaricis (Hymenochaetaceae) in Sicilia

2010
