2015

Abstract The crystals of a new aqua-(diethylenetriamine-N, N′, N′′)-copper(II) sulfate monohydrate have been synthesized by direct interaction of solid copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate with diethylenetriamine (deta). The crystal structure of [Cu(deta)H2O]SO4⋅H2O (1) has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods at 100 K and characterized using X-ray powder diffraction pattern: space group P 1 ¯ , a = 7.2819(4), b = 8.4669(4), c = 8.7020(3) A, α = 83.590(3), β = 89.620(4), γ = 84.946(4)°, Z = 2. The environment of the Cu(II) atom is a distorted, elongated square pyramid which consists of three nitrogen atoms of the deta molecule and oxygen atom of the water molecule in the basal plane of t…

Synthesis, structural, and thermal characterization of a new binuclear copper(II) chelate complex bearing an amine-hardener for epoxy resins

2016

A new di(μ-carbonato)bis[aqua(diethylenetriamine)copper(II)] hexahydrate complex, [{Cu(NH(C2H4NH2)2)(H2O)(μ-CO3)}2]⋅6H2O (1), was synthesized by direct interaction of malachite with diethylenetriamine (dien). The crystals of 1 were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and IR spectra, as well as structurally characterized. Compound 1 consists of [{Cu(dien)(H2O)(μ-CO3)}2] discrete units whose CO32– anions play the role of bridging ligands combining two Cu(II) chelate cores into a centrosymmetric dimer. The elongated octahedral environment of Cu2+ consists of three nitrogens of dien and an oxygen from CO32– at the base of the bipyramid; the two apical positions of such polyhedron are occu…

Tailoring oxide properties: An impact on adsorption characteristics of molecules and metals

2014

Abstract Both density functional theory calculations and numerous experimental studies demonstrate a variety of unique features in metal supported oxide films and transition metal doped simple oxides, which are markedly different from their unmodified counterparts. This review highlights, from the computational perspective, recent literature on the properties of the above mentioned surfaces and how they adsorb and activate different species, support metal aggregates, and even catalyse reactions. The adsorption of Au atoms and clusters on metal-supported MgO films are reviewed together with the cluster׳s theoretically predicted ability to activate and dissociate O 2 at the Au–MgO(100)/Ag(100…

Oxytocin Signaling as a Target to Block Social Defeat-Induced Increases in Drug Abuse Reward

2021

There is huge scientific interest in the neuropeptide oxytocin (OXT) due to its putative capacity to modulate a wide spectrum of physiological and cognitive processes including motivation, learning, emotion, and the stress response. The present review seeks to increase the understanding of the role of OXT in an individual’s vulnerability or resilience with regard to developing a substance use disorder. It places specific attention on the role of social stress as a risk factor of addiction, and explores the hypothesis that OXT constitutes a homeostatic response to stress that buffers against its negative impact. For this purpose, the review summarizes preclinical and clinical literature rega…

Structural, thermal and photomagnetic properties of spin crossover [Fe(bpp)2]2+ salts bearing [Cr(L)(ox)2]- anions

2009

International audience; This paper is divided into two parts: in the first part, the influence of solvate molecules on the magnetic properties of spin crossover salts of [Fe(bpp)(2)][Cr(L)(ox)(2)]ClO(4) x nS (bpp = 2,6-bis(pyrazol-3yl)pyridine; L = 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) or 1,10-phenanthroline (phen); ox = oxalate dianion; S = solvent) is analyzed. The second part is devoted to the photomagnetic properties of the previously reported [Fe(bpp)(2)][Cr(L)(ox)(2)](2) family of compounds. The study describes the crystal structure, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and magnetic properties of [Fe(bpp)(2)][Cr(bpy)(ox)(2)]ClO(4) x EtOH x 4 H(2)O (1) and [Fe(bpp)(2)][Cr(phen)(ox)(2)]ClO(4) x 1.5 …

Optical investigation of spin-crossover in cobalt(II) bis-terpy complexes

2007

Abstract The spin transition of the [Co(terpy) 2 ] 2+ complex (terpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine) is analysed based on experimental data from optical spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The single crystal absorption spectrum of [Co(terpy) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 2 shows an asymmetric absorption band at 14 400 cm −1 with an intensity typical for a spin-allowed d–d transition and a temperature behaviour typical for a thermal spin transition. The single crystal absorption spectra of suggest that in this compound, the complex is essentially in the high-spin state at all temperatures. However, the increase in intensity observed in the region of the low-spin MLCT transition with increasing te…

ESR study of thianthrenium radical cation within acid zeolites

1997

Abstract Thianthrene (E ox = 1.47 V vs NHE) has been adsorbed into a series of zeolites beta (s) and ZSM-5 in the NH 4 + or H + forms, having different particle size and Si/Al ratio. The resulting population of generated thianthrenium radical cation was determined by a combination of diffuse reflectance and ESR spectroscopies. From the results obtained it can be concluded: i) the process takes predominantly place in the interior of the voids (XPS measurements and lack of influence of the particle size); ii) ZSM-5 is more efficient than zeolite s; iii) no strong acid sites are required (both NH 4 + and H + forms produced very similar spin concentrations); iv) the zeolite framework acts isola…

Spectroscopic characterization and biological activity ofL-methionyl-L histidinato complexes of R2Sn(IV) ions (R?=?Me, nBu, Ph) and X-ray structure o…

2000

Complexes of L-methionyl-L-histidine (H2MetHis) with R2Sn(IV) ions (R = Me, nBu, Ph) have been synthesized. The crystal and molecular structures of Me2SnMetHis·0.5MeOH have been determined by X-ray diffraction. The title compound contains two crystallographically independent molecular units possessing the same trigonal-bipyramidal geometry at tin, each dimethyltin(IV) moiety being coordinated by the terminal amino nitrogen, deprotonated peptide nitrogen and terminal carboxylate group, neither the imidazole nor thioether groups being involved in bonding. IR spectroscopy was used to probe the structure of the complexes in the solid state, and the structure in solution (CD3OD) was assessed by …

A new 3-D polymeric spin transition compound: [tris(1,4-bis(tetrazol-1-yl)butane-N1,N 1′)iron(II)] bis(perchlorate)

2001

A series of novel polymeric compounds of formula [M(btzb)3][ClO4]2 (Mll = Fe, Ni or Cu) with btzb = 1,4-bis-(tetrazol-1-yl)butane have been prepared and their physical properties investigated. The btzb ligand has been prepared and its crystal structure determined, together with a tentative crystal structure of the 3-D compound [Fe(btzb)3][ClO4]2. The model of the latter shows two symmetry-related, interpenetrating Fe-btzb networks in which the iron(II) ions approach each other as close as 8.3 and 9.1 A. This supramolecular catenane undergoes a sharp thermal spin transition around 160 K with hysteresis (20 K) along with a pronounced thermochromic effect. The spin crossover behaviour has been…

Spontaneous doping and magnetic properties of polyacetylene and polypropyne synthesized in situ in Ni-exchanged mordenite and mesoporous MCM-41

2001

Upon polymerisation of acetylene and propyne inside the channels of Ni2+-exchanged mordenite and mesoporous MCM-41 spontaneous doping and formation of antiferromagnetic NiO clusters are observed to various extents. The population of polarons present in the final polymer/zeolite composite: (i) is higher for polyacetylene than for polypropyne; (ii) increases with polymerisation temperature in the range 100 to 335 °C; (iii) increases with the C content; and (iv) is higher for mordenite than for MCM-41 under the same conditions. The use of Ni(0),H+-mordenite for polymer formation enhances the polaron population of the resulting polymer by over one order of magnitude. Doped polyacetylene encapsu…
