I depositi istituzionali devono considerarsi vere e proprie biblioteche digitali, che si basano su un intero assetto digitale (digital asset management system - DAMS), uno spazio virtuale, in cui collezioni digitali, comunità di utenti e servizi interagiscono, con la finalità di creare, condividere ed usare la conoscenza, rappresentata in risorse digitali. L'articolo vuole focalizzare che la funzione dei depositi istituzionali non e' quella dell’archiviazione di una collezione ma quella della condivisione di informazione e di servizi per gli utenti che facilitano questa condivisione.

Contours of diffusion of electronic data interchange in Finland

Abstract Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)—despite its basic simplicity—forms a complex and inter-organizational innovation. This necessitates multiple points of observation and the use of multiple theoretical frames in accounting EDI diffusion processes. Based on field study data we deliver a multi-level account of EDI diffusion in Finland. The study clarifies how factors located on three levels of analysis can be applied to understand the unfolding of EDI adoption in different organizational constellations, here called diffusion patterns. In the archives of the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften two letters by Barthold Georg Niebuhr of September 1816 are preserved which have never been published in a scholarly edition. The present transcription of the text is diplomatical. Furthermore the letters are examinated in their historical context. The use made of these letters in an anonymous publication in the same year in the Allegmeine Literatur-Zeitung is also discussed.
Graduate employment and the returns to higher education in Africa

Importantly, one of our methods adjusts for the effect of higher education on the rate of joblessness, which is substantial in most African countries, and particularly for women. Our results confirm that Mincerian coefficients cannot be interpreted as a true rate of return, and that the latter (even after taking into account the employment effect) is considerably lower than what has previously been suggested in the literature (less than half).
