From Face-to-Face to Online UDeL Camps: Supporting Staff at Higher Education Institutions in Developing Universal Design for eLearning (UDeL)
2021
The TINEL Project is running a series of camps for staff at higher education institution to support them in developing inclusive eLearning. The first camp was conducted face-to-face, but the coronavirus pandemic meant that the second camp was conducted online. This created a case study in inclusive eLearning in itself and allowed us to experience and reflect on the challenges and opportunities of inclusive online teaching and learning. This paper presents the structure and content of the two camps, our reflections on moving from a face-to-face to an online situation and our elaboration how the UDL principles apply to eLearning to create Universal Design for eLearning (UDeL). We found that b…
The institutional isomorphism in the context of organizational changes in higher education institutions
2019
This article deals with the institutional theory and isomorphism, from the processes of organizational change in higher education institutions. In a first phase, we analyze, through a questionnaire, the situations and causes of change in higher education institutions (HEI), more precisely in the field knowledge of Physical Education in Colombia. Afterwards, through a multiple case study, we analyze both the pressures of the environment that force HEI to change and the types of isomorphism. The results show the existence of the three types of isomorphism in a process of change where the National and Institutional governments exert coercive pressures. Other HEIs in similar situations exert mi…
The changing role of students' representation in Poland: an historical appraisal
2014
Student representation in Poland has a relatively short but turbulent history. This article offers an historical appraisal of the development of student representation at the national level in the context of rapid and deep structural changes in Polish higher education. Based on a desktop analysis of official documentation, legislation, ideological declarations and background (first-hand) information provided by student leaders, the article reconstructs the establishment of the first independent self-governing student organisation in the country. In so doing, the paper pays particular attention to the emergence, institutionalisation as well as legitimacy challenges facing student bodies eith…

Responsible Universities in Context
2019
AbstractIn this introductory chapter, the concept of the responsible university is introduced and put into context, first concerning other organisations and society at large, secondly in a historical perspective and thirdly related to policy initiatives across the globe. We also discuss how to implement this concept within the complex organisations that universities constitute. Lastly, we present some key features of the Nordic countries and introduce the empirical chapters of the book.
External Inspection or School Self‐evaluation? A Comparative Analysis of Policy and Practice in Primary Schools in England and Finland
1998
The findings reported in this article form part of a wider comparative research project investigating the processes of curriculum change in primary schools in England and Finland during the period 1994-97. The two countries' policies on inspection and monitoring were moving in opposite directions. Finland has abandoned its national inspection system and is promoting school self-evaluation, whilst in England external accountability has been imposed on schools through Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) inspections. Using data from case studies of six schools in each country, it is argued that each country has something to learn from the practice of the other. In England, the impact of…
Prácticas y condiciones institucionales para el desarrollo de la docencia en universidades iberoamericanas
2019
This research is based on an analytical model designed to evaluate the institutional conditions that affect the development of teaching in Ibero-America. The case studies correspond to six universities in: Argentina, Spain, Mexico and Venezuela 2. Were identified the common challenges and the differentiated needs faced by the development, with quality, of university teaching. It was concluded that the context is a predominant variable that impacts the exercise of the teaching function and that this is the most important academic activity with an impact on the quality of higher education. Esta investigación se realizó con base en un modelo analítico diseñado para evaluar las condiciones inst…

Foires et marchés à Auxerre aux XIIe et XIIIe siècles
1998
Fairs and markets in Auxerre in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. In addition to numerous "ordinary" and "solemn" markets, there are two fairs during the Middle Ages in Auxerre : the fair in Chandemai which is the largest commercial envent, and the fair in Tannet whose existence after the thirteenth century seems doubtful. Agricultural, meat, fishery and forestry products, as well as finished and semi-finished crafted goods can be found there. The activities of change which were strictly "controlled", as well as lending developped. The role of the fairs in Auxerre was essentially that of regional redistribution. For a long time the fairs and markets in Auxerre were the subject of a stru…
