Structure and determinants of production in Textile-Clothing-Leather-Skins (TCLS) craft industry in Benin: a study based on investigations of the val…
2014
Lieu et date de la conférence modifiées. Prétoria 31Juillet au 2 Août 2014 (Au lieu de Kigali -Rwanda); International audience; Sustainable economic growth in Benin requires a better understand of the informalsector, which contributes to two-thirds of GDP. Particularly, craft industry and TCLSsubsector is one of informal activity sector to be handled. The objectives of this work wereto identify the structure and factors that determine the production in TCLS craft industry. This study was based on a survey carried out in February 2011 on value creationdata in craft industry of TCLS in Benin. Lack of data induced by informal activities wascircumvented using an imputation method. A Multiple Cor…
BETWEEN SUCCESS AND UNSUCCESS IN ABSORBING EU FUNDS - POLAND VS. ROMANIA
2015
Component of the cohesion policy promoted by the European Commission, European grant financing represents an inexpensive and important resource for the social and economic recovery of the member states, offering the prospect for the budgetary sustainability, encouraging public and private investments and thereby reducing the development gaps both at national and international level. In the present study, through the comparative analysis between Romania and Poland in the field of EU funds absorption, we intend to identify the weaknesses and the strengths of each of the two member states, helping to formulate a set of recommendations that our country should follow in order to attract funds re…
Searches for anisotropies in the arrival directions of the highest energy cosmic rays detected by the Pierre Auger Observatory
2015
We analyze the distribution of arrival directions of ultra-high energy cosmic rays recorded at the Pierre Auger Observatory in 10 years of operation. The data set, about three times larger than that used in earlier studies, includes arrival directions with zenith angles up to $80^\circ$, thus covering from $-90^\circ$ to $+45^\circ$ in declination. After updating the fraction of events correlating with the active galactic nuclei (AGNs) in the Vron-Cetty and Vron catalog, we subject the arrival directions of the data with energies in excess of 40 EeV to different tests for anisotropy. We search for localized excess fluxes and for self-clustering of event directions at angular scales up t…
Search for Higgs boson pair production in the two bottom quarks plus two photons final state in pp collisions at a energy-of-centre of mass of 13 TeV…
2022
This thesis presents a physics analysis performed with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider with data from the Run 2 (2015-2018) period of proton-proton collision at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity used for physics analyses of 139 inverse-fb. The analysis is a search for resonant and non-resonant Higgs boson pair production in the two bottom quarks and two photon final state. Special focus is given to the event selection strategy for the resonant search using multi-variate techniques. In addition, the ATLAS upgrade for the Run 3 (2022-2025) period where the software is migrated to a multi-threading framework is extensively covered alon…
Determining the effects of Eugenol on the bond strength of resin-based restorative materials to dentin : a meta-analysis of the literature
2020
The aim of this study was to determine whether the residual presence of eugenol in coronal dentin may compromise the bond strength of resin-based restorative materials. A search was performed on MEDLINE/Pubmed, Scopus, and by hand search for relevant papers. No restriction was applied for language and publication date. The studies selected for analysis tested specimens with reduced size (micro-shear bond strength ( SBS) and micro-tensile bond strength ( TBS)) of adhesive systems and resin-bas…
Strumenti Musicali/ Musical Instruments
2021
In ancient Greece, music played a very important role in every meaningful context of community life; similarly, it was…
Effects of defects on the tensile strength of short-fibre composite materials
2014
Abstract. Heterogeneous materials tend to fail at the weakest cross-section, where the presence of microstructural heterogeneities or defects controls the tensile strength. Short-fibre composites are an example of heterogeneous materials, where unwanted fibre agglomerates are likely to initiate tensile failure. In this study, the dimensions and orientation of fibre agglomerates have been analysed from three-dimensional images obtained by X-ray microtomography. The geometry of the specific agglomerate responsible for failure initiation has been identified and correlated with the strength. At the plane of fracture, a defect in the form of a large fibre agglomerate was almost inevitably found.…
The Pros and Cons of Beyond Standard Model Interpretations of ANITA Events
2019
The Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA) experiment has observed two air shower events with energy $\sim 500~{\rm PeV}$ emerging from the Earth with exit angles $\sim 30^\circ$ above the horizon. As was immediately noted by the ANITA Collaboration, these events (in principle) could originate in the atmospheric decay of an upgoing $\tau$-lepton produced through a charged current interaction of a $\nu_\tau$ inside the Earth. However, the relatively steep arrival angles of these perplexing events create tension with the standard model (SM) neutrino-nucleon interaction cross section. Deepening the conundrum, the IceCube neutrino telescope and the Pierre Auger Observatory with substanti…
The impact of Covid-19 on stock market
2021
