Šī bakalaura darba tēma ir „Klasiskie retorikas līdzekļi iedarbīgā mūsdienu publiskā runā”. Veicot šo pētījumu, darba autore, pirmkārt, vēlas noskaidrot, vai tie retoriskie līdzekļi, kurus atklājuši tādi antīkie retorikas pētnieki kā Aristotelis, Cicerons un Kvintiliāns, joprojām ir aktuāli mūsdienās un, otrkārt, pievērst uzmanību šo instrumentu lietojuma biežumam pārliecinošā mūsdienu publiskā runā. Izmantotās pētījuma metodes ir apkopojoša analīze teorētiskajā daļā un diskursa kvalitatīva analīze empīriskajā daļā. Pētījuma rezultāti parāda, ka klasiskie retorikas līdzekļi joprojām ir piemērojami mūsdienu runām, un, lai pārliecinātu klausītājus, tie tiek bieži pielietoti mūsdienās.

Measurements of volcanic SO2 emission rates have been the mainstay of remote-sensing volcanic gas geochemistry for almost four decades, and they have contributed significantly to our understanding of volcanic systems and their impact upon the atmosphere. The last ten years have brought step-change improvements in the instrumentation applied to these observations, which began with the application of miniature ultraviolet spectrometers that were deployed in scanning and traverse configurations, with differential optical absorption spectroscopy evaluation routines. First multi-GAS based characterisation of the Boiling Lake volcanic gas (Dominica, Lesser Antilles)

We used a Multi-component Gas Analyser System (Multi-GAS) to measure, for the very first time, the composition (H2O, CO2, H2S, SO2) of the volcanic gas plume issuing from the Boiling Lake, a vigorously degassing, hot (T ~ 80-90°C) volcanic lake in Dominica, West Indies. The Multi-GAS captured in-plume concentrations of H2O, CO2 and H2S were well above those typical of ambient atmosphere, while no volcanic SO2 was detected (<0.05 ppm). These were used to derive the Boiling Lake plume characteristic ratios of CO2/H2S (5.2±0.4) and H2O/CO2 (31.4±6). Empirical Study on the Relationship between the Cross-Correlation among Stocks and the Stocks' Volatility Clustering

In this paper we discuss univariate and multivariate statistical properties of volatility with the aim of understanding how these two aspects are interrelated. Specifically, we focus on the relationship between the cross-correlation among stock's volatilities and the volatility clustering. Volatility clustering is related to the memory property of the volatility time-series and therefore to its predictability. Our results show that there exists a relationship between the level of predictability of any volatility time-series and the amount of its inter-dependence with other assets. Finite element analysis of a Bionate ring-shaped customized lumbar disc nucleus prosthesis

[EN] Study design: Biomechanical study of a nucleus replacement with a finite element model. Objective: To validate a Bionate 80A ring-shaped nucleus replacement. Methods: The ANSYS lumbar spine model made from lumbar spine X-rays and magnetic resonance images obtained from cadaveric spine specimens were used. All materials were assumed homogeneous, isotropic, and linearly elastic. We studied three options: intact spine, nucleotomy, and nucleus implant. Two loading conditions were evaluated at L-3-L-4, L-4-L-5, and L-5-S-1 discs: a 1000 N axial compression load and this load after the addition of 8 Nm flexion moment in the sagittal plane plus 8 Nm axial rotation torque.
