Le clausole generali
2021
The essay aims the fundamental issue of general clauses as particular type of rule. The analyze then focuses on the valutative nature of the general clauses e the process of their concretization, called "valutative integration". Finally, the study deals with the distinction between general clauses, principles and values.
On Descriptive Characterizations of an Integral Recovering a Function from Its $$L^r$$-Derivative
2022
The notion of Lr-variational measure generated by a function F ∈ Lr[a, b] is introduced and, in terms of absolute continuity of this measure, a descriptive characterization of the HKr -integral recovering a function from its Lr-derivative is given. It is shown that the class of functions generating absolutely continuous Lr-variational measure coincides with the class of ACGr -functions which was introduced earlier, and that both classes coincide with the class of the indefinite HKr-integrals under the assumption of Lr-differentiability almost everywhere of the functions consisting these classes

O047. The sound-induced flash illusions reveal visual cortex hyperexcitability in cluster headache
2015
Objectives Pathophysiology of cluster headache (CH) is not wellknown. Although posterior hypothalamus has been suggested to play a pivotal role, evidence exists of a more diffuse involvement of the central nervous system including brainstem and cerebral cortex. In this regard, we recently observed increased motor cortical excitability in episodic CH patients both outside and inside bout [1]. The sound-induced flash illusions (SIFI) represent an example of multisensory integration, and provide a tool to indirectly explore the excitability state of the visual cortex [2]. SIFI are classified as “fission” and “fusion” illusions. When one visual stimulus (flash) is accompanied by two or more aud…
2015
The combination of local orientation collinearity and spatial frequency contrast in contour integration was studied in two experiments using a 2AFC contour detection and discrimination task. Target contours were defined by local orientation collinearity, spatial frequency contrast between contour and background elements, or both cues. Experiments differed in the source of spatial frequency contrast by manipulating the spatial frequency of either contour or background elements. Cue summation gains, defined as the performance benefit of double cue conditions over single cue conditions, were evaluated and tested against the predictions derived from probability summation and linear summation. S…
Interaction of sight and sound in the perception and experience of musical performance
2016
Recently, Vuoskoski, Thompson, Clarke, and Spence (2014) demonstrated that visual kinematic performance cues may be more important than auditory performance cues in terms of observers’ ratings of expressivity perceived in audiovisual excerpts of piano playing, and that visual kinematic performance cues had crossmodal effects on the perception of auditory expressivity. The present study was designed to extend these findings, and to provide additional information about the roles of sight and sound in the perception and experience of musical performance. Experiment 1 investigated the relative contributions of auditory and visual kinematic performance features to participants’ subjective emotio…
A management and optimisation model for water supply planning in water deficit areas
2014
Summary The integrated water resources management approach has proven to be a suitable option for efficient, equitable and sustainable water management. In water-poor regions experiencing acute and/or chronic shortages, optimisation techniques are a useful tool for supporting the decision process of water allocation. In order to maximise the value of water use, an optimisation model was developed which involves multiple supply sources (conventional and non-conventional) and multiple users. Penalties, representing monetary losses in the event of an unfulfilled water demand, have been incorporated into the objective function. This model represents a novel approach which considers water distri…
A Choquet Integral Based Assessment Model of Projects of Urban Neglected Areas: A Case of Study
2014
This paper describes a multi-criteria evaluation model to support decisions related to the redevelopment of urban residual areas, a central theme in planning practices. Renewal projects on urban or neighborhood scale are complex problems because of the social, economic and environmental implications generated on the different categories of stakeholders. In the awareness of the specific characteristics of each city, the cognitive and evaluation model is especially defined for a given urban context, although it is easily adaptable to different urban ones. In order to take into account the interactions among the criteria by which we compare design alternatives, the Choquet integral is implemen…
Intercomparison of SO2 camera systems for imaging volcanic gas plumes
2015
Abstract SO 2 camera systems are increasingly being used to image volcanic gas plumes. The ability to derive SO 2 emission rates directly from the acquired imagery at high time resolution allows volcanic process studies that incorporate other high time-resolution datasets. Though the general principles behind the SO 2 camera have remained the same for a number of years, recent advances in CCD technology and an improved understanding of the physics behind the measurements have driven a continuous evolution of the camera systems. Here we present an intercomparison of seven different SO 2 cameras. In the first part of the experiment, the various technical designs are compared and the advantage…
Macrosocial determinants of social integration: Social class and area effect
1995
Theory and research on social support have paid little attention to the existence of important macrosocial variables determining level and content of social relationships. This study examines variations in social integration as a function of social class and residential area characteristics. Results for 234 subjects living in high and low risk neighbourhoods indicated that differences between higher and lower social class groups follow different patterns in different residential areas. Also, same social class position appeared to have different significance as a function of residential area characteristics. The levels of three social integration measures—community integration and satisfacti…
