Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on arvioida yhteiskunnallisen yrityksen yhteiskunnallisuutta ja sen toteuttamista sosiaali- ja terveyspalveluiden toimintakentässä sekä ulkoistamisen vaikutuksia sosiaali- ja terveyspalveluiden palvelukokonaisuuteen. Differences in wage determination in the Eurozone: A challenge to the resilience of the common currency

Abstract Different developments in wages and unit labor costs across countries can reduce the synchronization of business cycles within a currency area and therefore be a potential source of asymmetric shocks and/or asymmetric response to a common shock. In this paper, we use novel econometric methods to identify differences and similarities in wage determination across Eurozone countries. Results show that wages have different determinants across euro area countries, among which two relatively distinct groups can be identified. In particular, wages in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Finland behave more similarly, are less sticky and respond more to macroeconomic …
EMU and Trade Revisited: Long-Run Evidence Using Gravity Equations

In this paper, we present evidence of the long-run effect of the euro on trade for the twelve initial EMU countries for the period 1967–2008 from a double perspective. First, we pool all the bilateral combinations of trade flows among the EMU countries in a panel cointegration gravity specification. Second, we estimate a gravity equation for each of the EMU members vis-a-vis the other eleven partners. We apply panel cointegration techniques based on factor models that account for cross-dependence and structural breaks. Emeritusprofessori Kari Palonen avaa Max Webein yhteyttä Euroopan Unioniin. Koska Weber kuoli espanjantautiin kesäkuussa 1920, hänellä ei kuitenkaan voinut olla mitään käsitystä Euroopan unionista, sellaisena kuin me sen tunnemme. Palonen lähestyykin Euroopan Unionia Weberin ajatusten kautta, joissa esimerkiksi ymmärretään toteutuneita mahdollisuuksia vertaamalla niitä toteutumattomiin. Palonen ei myöskään ole ainoa Weber-tutkija, joka on pohtinut Weberin suhdetta Euroopan integraatioon.

The British Parliament and Foreign Policy in the 20th Century : Towards Increasing Parliamentarisation?

This article demonstrates the complexity of the foreign policy involvement of the British parliament during the 20th century. Parliamentary government as such provides some procedural means for involvement in foreign policy debate, in Britain as well as in other countries. Researchers have, nevertheless, often argued that parliaments play a limited role in foreign policy. Approaching our topic by combining the analysis of policy documents with more discourse-oriented analysis of parliamentary debates, we argue that noticeable, but not straightforward, parliamentarisation of foreign policy took place in the course of the 20th century. Reconceptualising the Role of Talk in CLIL

This theoretical paper offers a reconceptualisation of talk in CLIL based on sociocultural and dialogic theories of education. Building on these educational theories and the experiences of an on-going CLIL project, this paper presents a pedagogical model for the navigation of the ‘talkscape’ of the CLIL classroom. This model comprises a total of seven talk-types: organisational, social, critical, expert, exploratory, meta and pedagogic. Teachers’ pedagogical and relational identity negotiation in the Finnish CLIL context

Abstract This study explores the professional identity of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) teachers in Finnish primary education. It aims at explaining how CLIL teachers negotiate their pedagogical and relational identity, and how identity agency is exercised in negotiating a more encompassing professional identity. Thematic analysis of thirteen interviews outlines the bi-directional process of identity negotiation between personal and professional resources, and social contexts at work. The results highlight a connection between professional identity and agency, and suggest that identity negotiation is a process of working and sharing with others, but also individually.
Integraatiokoulutuksen filosofis-teoreettiset perusteet : sivistysteoreettinen näkökulma

Tutkimuksessa selvitetään Jyväskylän yliopiston opettajankoulutuslaitoksen integraatiokoulutushankkeen filosofis-teoreettisia perusteita sivistysteoreettisesta näkökulmasta. Tulkitsen integraatiokoulutuksen teoreettisia perusteita ja vertaan niitä sivistysteoreettiseen pedagogiikkaan. Tutkimuksen aineisto koostuu integraatiokoulusta käsittelevistä kirjoituksista sekä hankkeen kouluttajien haastattelusta. Tutkimus on hermeneuttinen ja sen menetelmänä on systemaattinen analyysi. Tutkimus kuuluu kasvatusfilosofian alueelle, mutta siinä sivutaan myös muiden tieteenalojen teorioita.
