The European turtle dove population and breeding range has declined sharply in Spain. This study reanalyses data from the Atlas of Breeding Birds in Alicante (SE Spain), aiming to identify the main variables related to its occurrence and abundance. We used hierarchical partitioning analysis to identify important environmental variables associated with natural vegetation, farming, hydrological web, anthropic presence, climate, and topography. Direct exposure to solar radiation causes radial growth eccentricity at the beginning of the growing season in Robinia pseudoacacia

Abstract Our study investigated the effect of stem temperature increase on xylem formation in Robinia pseudoacacia tree-trunks, caused by direct exposure to solar radiation. It is important to determine factors which may improve the concentricity of deposited wood tissue and intensify xylogenesis because a strong irregularity of wood tissue deposited in the radial direction in mature trees of R. pseudoacacia reduces the commercial value of the wood. Therapeutic inertia in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with non-insulin agents

Abstract Aims To analyze therapeutic inertia in type 2 diabetes (T2D) subjects with suboptimal glycemic control and treated with ≥2 non-insulin antidiabetic agents in a primary care setting. Methods A retrospective study was conducted using electronic medical records from subjects with HbA1c ≥7.0% (≥53 mmol/mol). Therapeutic inertia was defined as the absence of treatment intensification despite suboptimal glycemic control where intensification should have been implemented (HbA1c ≥7.5% [≥58 mmol/mol]). Pervaporation membrane reactors

Pervaporation is a peculiar membrane separation process which is now considered for the integration with some types of reactions in new promising and interesting applications. Indeed, pervaporation membrane reactors are suitable to some specific utilizations also in sustainable chemistry, which is an area currently characterized by a growing interest. The fundamentals of this type of membrane reactors are presented and the advantages and the difficulties in many applications are discussed and reviewed with particular attention to the opportunities for future developments.
