QCD corrections to static heavy-quark form factors

Interactions of heavy quarks, in particular of top quarks, with electroweak gauge bosons are expected to be very sensitive to new physics effects related to electroweak symmetry breaking. These interactions are described by the so-called static form factors, which include anomalous magnetic moments and the effective weak charges. We compute the second-order QCD corrections to these static form factors, which turn out to be sizeable and need to be taken into account in searches for new anomalous coupling effects.
Diphoton resonance from a warped extra dimension

We argue that extensions of the Standard Model (SM) with a warped extra dimension, which successfully address the hierarchy and flavor problems of elementary particle physics, can provide an elegant explanation of the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently reported by ATLAS and CMS. A gauge-singlet bulk scalar with ${\cal O}(1)$ couplings to fermions is identified as the new resonance $S$, and the vector-like Kaluza-Klein excitations of the SM quarks and leptons mediate its loop-induced couplings to photons and gluons. QCD Jets at HERA II.O(? s 2 ) four-jet cross-sections

We present exact expressions for theO(α s 2 ) tree graph four-jet cross-sections in neutral current and charged current deep inelasticep scattering initiated by quarks, antiquarks and gluons including lepton polarization effects. Using helicity amplitudes the partonic cross-sections are given in concise form including all colour, flavour and statistical factors. We explicate the electroweak coupling dependence and state how the partonic cross-sections are folded with the respective parton densities to obtain theep jet cross-sections toO(α s 2 ). Heavy quark spin symmetry and heavy baryons: electroweak decays

Heavy quark spin symmetry is discussed in the context of single and doubly heavy baryons. A special attention is paid to the constraints/simplifications that this symmetry imposes on the non-relativistic constituent quark model wave functions and on the b->c semileptonic decays of these hadrons.

We present a search for anomalous production of heavy-flavor quark jets in association with a W boson at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar Collider. This search is conducted through an examination of the exclusive jet spectrum of W+jets final states in which the heavy-flavor quark content has been enhanced by requiring at least one tagged jet in an event. Jets are tagged by the combined use of two algorithms, one based on semileptonic decays of b/c hadrons, and the other on their lifetimes. We compare data in e+jets (164 pb-1) and mu+jets (145 pb-1) channels, collected with the D0 detector at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV, to expectations from the standard model, and set upper limits on anomalous production o…

Quenching of the 2-benzoylthiophene π,π* triplet, 3BT*, by phenol yields the corresponding ketyl and phenoxyl radicals. Reaction rates were measured in 10 solvents having a range of hydrogen-bond acceptor strengths (β2H values). There appear to be two mechanisms: (i) a bimolecular reaction of 3BT* with “free” (i.e., not H-bonded) phenol in which the 3BT* accepts both a proton and an electron from the phenol, the rate decreasing as β2H increases; (ii) a trimolecular reaction of 3BT* with phenol that is H-bonded to a solvent molecule, PhO−H···S, in which the proton goes to the S and the electron to the 3BT*, the rate increasing as β2H increases.
Rotational quenching of monodeuterated water by hydrogen molecules

Cross sections and rate coefficients for low lying rotational transitions in HDO induced by para and ortho-H(2) collisions are presented for the first time. Calculations have been performed at the close-coupling and coupled-states levels with the deuterated variant of the H(2)O-H(2) interaction potential of Valiron et al. [J. Chem. Phys., 2008, 129, 134306]. Rate coefficients are presented for temperatures between 5 and 100 K and are compared to the corresponding rates for H(2)O and D(2)O. Significant differences caused by the isotopic substitution, in particular the C(2v) symmetry breaking, are observed.
