La mère, son bébé et la nourriture : approche exploratoire multidisciplinaire

2010

In the present study we videotaped 60 French speaking mothers and their healthy toddlers (from 1 to 2 years old) during different meal sessions. Using an exploratory and multi-disciplinary approach, including sociology/anthropology, developmental psychology and clinical psychology, our study illustrates the complexity of investigating feeding and eating interactions between mothers and toddlers. We illustrate how mothers’ representations of food and maternal own experiences around food influence their will to transmit feeding values and habits to their toddlers but also their feeding educative practices. Furthermore, we show how individual’s characteristics can influence the quality of feed…

L'aide à un parent âgé, seul et dépendant : déterminants structurels et interactions

2016

With population ageing, the demand for home care of the disabled elderly is increasing and a large part of care is provided by informal caregivers. This paper focuses on the determinants of care provision by children to an old, single and disabled parent. We focus on two-child families and apply a semi-structural methodology, already implemented on European data (survey SHARE). It makes it possible to distinguish between two types of determinants: structural determinants (individual, parental and family characteristics) and interactions (effect of the care provision of one child on the care provision of the other). The estimation of this model on data of the French survey "Handicap Santé Mé…

Holes Interaction Effects under high and medium Sound Intensities for Micro-perforated panels design

2010

International audience; Most models for predicting the acoustic response of perforated panels are based on the assumption that there are no interactions between the holes. This paper investigates the Hole Interaction Effect (HIE) and distribution effect on the sound absorption coefficient of perforated panels when submitted to medium and high sound pressure levels. It is experimentally demonstrated that though the HIE is mostly an added mass effect, the nonlinear resistance parameters depend on the separation distance between the apertures. Analysis of the data reveals the fact that even with HIE, the nonlinear reactance dependency with velocity is very low compared to the resistance-veloci…

On the measurement and prediction of the sound absorption coefficient of air-cavity backed perforated plates considering the holes interaction effect…

2012

International audience; This paper deals with the measurement and prediction of air cavity backed perforated plates considering the holes interaction effect under relatively low sound excitation. A revised expression for the radiation contribution is proposed to properly account for the holes interaction effect. This expression is integrated in the characteristic impedance expression following Atalla and Sgard [J. Sound Vib. 303, 195-208 (2007)] model. Perforated plate specimens with different centre-to-centre holes distances (pitches) are built and tested using an impedance tube. The particular cases of holes interaction effect with constant low porosity and of holes interaction effect wit…

Expliquer le comportement de robots distants à des utilisateurs humains : une approche orientée-agent

2020

With the widespread use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, understanding the behavior of intelligent agents and robots is crucial to guarantee smooth human-agent collaboration since it is not straightforward for humans to understand the agent’s state of mind. Recent studies in the goal-driven Explainable AI (XAI) domain have confirmed that explaining the agent’s behavior to humans fosters the latter’s understandability of the agent and increases its acceptability. However, providing overwhelming or unnecessary information may also confuse human users and cause misunderstandings. For these reasons, the parsimony of explanations has been outlined as one of the key features facilitating …

Study of control command of dynamic platform for driving simulation and influence on simulator sickness

2013

Simulation has been intensively involved nowadays in research and development for automotive industry. Driving simulators are one of those simulation techniques which are used to evaluate the prototypes for the vehicle dynamics and driving assistance systems. However with the driving simulator, there is a lock associated with its use. Because representing a permanent scenario as scale 1 is quite difficult. Because of that difficulty, motion/simulator sickness is an inevitably important topic to study. This thesis proposes to explore methods and tools to implement in static or dynamic simulators. In this implementation, studies of simulator sickness are conducted with objective measures (via …

An integrated modelling and remote sensing approach for hydrological study in arid and semi-arid regions: the SUDMED Program

2008

International audience; Recent efforts have been concentrated in the development of models to understand and predict the impact of environmental changes on hydrological cycle and water resources in arid and semi-arid regions. In this context, remote sensing data have been widely used to initialize, to force, or to control the simulations of these models. However, for several reasons, including the difficulty in establishing relationships between observational and model variables, the potential offered by satellite data has not been fully used. As a matter of fact, a few hydrological studies that use remote sensing data emanating from different sources (sensors, platforms) have been performe…

Inverse gas chromatography study of acid-base properties of cation resin used as catalysts of Bisphenol A synthesis

2001

The inverse gas chromatography method have been used for estimation of relative number of acid and base active centres for two type cation exchangers that are used as catalysts of Bisphenol A industrial synthesis. It was stated that after a few weeks of the continuous work of reactors filled with the catalysts, the acid-base properties of the latter have undergone significant changes. The number of acid centres decreased while the number of base centres increased. Simultaneously, the decreased of the yield of the synthesis product was observed.
