Mācību priekšmeta “Sports un veselība” integrācijas iespējas citos mācību priekšmetos.
2022
Parliamentary sources in the comparative study of conceptual history: methodological aspects and illustrations of a research proposal
2009
Summary: This article proposes that historians and political theorists should exploit parliamentary sources to move from the writing of national histories to the comparative study of the conceptual history of European political cultures. Complementing the German lexicographical approach to conceptual history, the authors argue that parliamentary debates in several European countries provide more reliable sources for the past use of the language of politics. They emphasize the possibilities for the study of political history and the rhetoric of parliamentary institutions offered by the use of parliamentary debates side by side with the study of archival sources and published literature. Rhet…
From digitalization to cybernization : Delivering value with cybernized services
2019
This reflection note, based on the lead author’s keynote presentation at the Information Systems Research Seminar in Scandinavia/Scandinavian Conference on Information Systems 2019, makes an argument for the need to study the transformation from digital services to cybernized services offered by service providers to their customers. We first discuss the digitalization of services. Then, we argue that the emergence of cyber-physical systems enables a new kind of services that apply; e.g.; the internet of things, analytics of sensor-based big data, and artificial intelligence for value creation. In other words, the cybernization of services. We illustrate two particular approaches for underst…

Open challenges in environmental data analysis and ecological complex systems (a)
2020
Abstract This letter focuses on open challenges in the fields of environmental data analysis and ecological complex systems. It highlights relations between research problems in stochastic population dynamics, machine learning and big data research, and statistical physics. Recent and current developments in statistical modeling of spatiotemporal data and in population dynamics are briefly reviewed. The presentation emphasizes stochastic fluctuations, including their statistical representation, data-based estimation, prediction, and impact on the physics of the underlying systems. Guided by the common thread of stochasticity, a deeper and improved understanding of environmental processes an…
Time evolution of non-lethal infectious diseases: a semi-continuous approach.
2005
A model describing the dynamics related to the spreading of non-lethal infectious diseases in a fixed-size population is proposed. The model consists of a non-linear delay-differential equation describing the time evolution of the increment in the number of infectious individuals and depends upon a limited number of parameters. Predictions are in good qualitative agreement with data on influenza.
