Purpose Children are gradually attaining recognition as service users and their involvement in service development has been advanced in recent years. This study draws on empirical research in social and health-care services designed for children and families. This study tries to identify the main factors determining the quality in grandparent/ grandchild relationships from the perspective of grandchildren. Three hundred and sixty one Spanish young adults responded to questions concerning the quality of their relationship with the "preferred" or "most close" grandparent. Celem badania była analiza środowiska zamieszkania (wieś versus miasto) jako moderatora zakresu oraz mechanizmów międzypokoleniowej transmisji (związku) przywiązania pomiędzy matkami i ich nastoletnimi dziećmi za pośrednictwem zachowań związanych z ich wrażliwością rodzicielską (tj. kontrolą psychologiczną i ciepłem wskazywanym przez akceptację-odrzucenie). This ethnographic study examines intergenerational relations in a day-care center with extended opening hours. The theoretical starting points of the study draw on Michel Foucault’s concept of governmentality. Therefore, this dissertation aims to generate insights into intergenerational relations in a day care with extended hours from the viewpoint of governance. The data for the study were collected from one Finnish day-care class through observation and half- structured interviews. The day-care class was part of a municipal day-care center with extended hours; the center was open from 5.30 am to 10.30 pm.
