SURFACE AND MECHANISTIC PROPERTIES OF RECYCLED BITUMINOUS MIXTURES

2019

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Problem Often, when the characteristics of a bituminous mixture are analised, there are major differences between in-lab and in-situ results. This is due to the fact that the procedures and techniques implemented during the design phase (in lab) may be different from those used on site. Then, is very important to be able to predict the main properties of a mixture particularly when innovative materials are used. For example, when crumb rubber is used, phisical and volumetric properties of mixes may change over time, in particular due to the swelling phenomenon that it alters different properties of the mixture (e.g., viscosity). This study aims to investigate the main aspe…

Multithreaded Peripheral Processor for a Multicore Embedded System

2012

Multithreaded and multicore architectures represent a good solution used for increasing of parallelism degree exploited in modern computing systems and they can reduce the power dissipated in the chip by using low-frequency clock signals. These advantages recommend these parallel architectures for integration in the embedded systems, with restrictions imposed by the relatively small integration area. Particularities of embedded applications require hardware support able to handling in real time the peripheral interrupt requests. The performance of this hardware influences the performance of the entire parallel system. The current trend is to integrate in one microcontroller more processors …

Effectiveness of Safety Warnings in Atypical Antipsychotic Drugs

2009

Studies conducted to obtain drug authorization are often of short duration and based on small sample sizes in selected populations. Policies on drug safety rely on the validity of the methods used to achieve rapid and effective communication of new information. No formal evaluation has ever been made of the Spanish communications system, although indirect data have raised questions about its effectiveness. To evaluate the impact of two safety warnings issued by the Spanish Drug Agency, and of a later prior authorization requirement involving the use of atypical antipsychotic drugs in the elderly. The study was based on a time-series analysis constructed with data corresponding to monthly invo…

La perception des parcours d’études non linéaires par les recruteur·euse·s

2020

Employer’s hiring behavior is changing and educational qualifications alone are not enough to explain hiring of graduates. In France, more and more young people drop out and return to full-time study. Therefore, they gain different life experiences outside the sphere of work: travel abroad, period of employment, civic services, etc. Yet, there was little research on this topic in France. This study explores the relationship between atypical schooling pathways and labour market entry from the perspective of employers. On the basis of vignette study, we stimulated a hiring process with a sample of recruiters. A study delay (Master level) was a negative brand in applicants’ resumes if experien…

Modulation of Hedgehog target gene expression by the Fused serine-threonine kinase in wing imaginal discs

1998

0925-4773 doi: DOI: 10.1016/S0925-4773(98)00130-0; The Fused (Fu) serine–threonine kinase and the Suppressor of fused (Su(fu)) product are part of the Hedgehog (Hh) signalling pathway both in embryos and in imaginal discs. In wing imaginal discs, the Hh signal induces Cubitus interruptus (Ci) accumulation and activates patched (ptc) and decapentaplegic (dpp) expression along the anterior/posterior (A/P) boundary. In this paper, we have examined the role of the Fu and Su(fu) proteins in the regulation of Hh target gene expression in wing imaginal discs, by using different classes of fu alleles and an amorphic Su(fu) mutation. We show that, at the A/P boundary, Fu kinase activity is involved …

Hyplets - Multi Exception Level Kernel towards Linux RTOS

2018

This paper presents the concept of a Multi-Exception level operating system. We add a hypervisor awareness to the Linux kernel and execute code in hyp exception level. We do that through the use of Hyplets. Hyplets are an innovative way to code interrupt service routines under ARM. Hyplets provide high performance, security, running time predictability, an RPC mechanism and a possible solution for the priority inversion problem. Hyplets uses special features of ARM8va hypervisor memory architecture.

Influence of antibody binding on oxygen binding behavior of Panulirus interruptus hemocyanin

1997

Oxygen binding behavior of monomeric subunit a and the hexameric form of this subunit of hemocyanin of Panulirus interruptus is influenced by the binding of various monoclonal antibodies. These antibodies react with other surface parts of the subunit than its second domain in which the oxygen binding site is located. The influence of three monoclonal antibodies and their antigen binding fragments (F-ab) has been investigated. Two antibodies increase the oxygen affinity of monomeric hemocyanin from that observed in its low affinity T-state, while the third has little influence on this property. F-ab fragments abolish almost completely the cooperativity of oxygen binding by the hexameric hemo…

Reconfiguration: a key to handle exceptions and performance deteriorations in manufacturing operations

2005

During a manufacturing operation, exceptions may occur dynamically and unpredictably. Their occurrence may lead to the degradation of system performance or, in the worst case scenario may interrupt the production process by causing errors in the schedule plan. This paper classifies three families of exceptions: (1) out-of-order events such as machine breakdowns, (2) operational out-of-ordinary events such as rush orders and (3) deteriorations of manufacturing resource performance such as reductions of machines' utilization. In all cases, in order to maintain an adequate level of system performance, it is necessary to detect exceptions, to diagnose them quickly and to recover them by taking …

A Smart Sensing Method for Real- Time Monitoring of Low Voltage Series-Arc-Fault

2020

This paper proposes a smart sensing method for real-time monitoring of low voltage series arc fault. It is based on the wavelet coefficient mean-difference algorithm and the four spikes appearing within two fundamental periods criterion with adaptive threshold. The method also uses the hard thresholding wavelet denoising with the universal threshold. An arc fault factor and a load adaptation factor are introduced and combined with a correction factor, so allowing the selection of the adaptive threshold in real-time and the series arc fault detection.
