Does Finland Need Raciolinguistics?
2017
A growing number of applied linguists and language educators in the US/North American context advocate for and from a scholarly perspective which views language issues in relation to racial issues and vice versa. The emergent field of raciolinguistics highlights the relationships between language and race/racism and has brought about research that investigates their intersections. Should scholars in Finland adopt (and adapt) such an approach to scholarly work? Three Finland-based scholars explore this question in a question ("prompt") - response format.
The link of a finitely determined map germ from R 2 to R 2
2010
Let f: (R2, 0) → (R2, 0) be a finitely determined map germ. The link of f is obtained by taking a small enough representative f: U ⊂ R2 → R2 and the intersection of its image with a small enough sphere Sε1 centered at the origin in R2. We will describe the topology of f in terms of the Gauss word associated to its link.
Improving the Effect of Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS): A Systematic Review
2021
With the development of electrical stimulation technology, traditional transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) technology has been found to have the drawback of not targeting a specific area accurately. Studies have shown that optimizing the number and position of electrodes during electrical stimulation has a very good effect on enhancing brain stimulation accuracy. At present, an increasing number of laboratories have begun to optimize tACS. However, there has been no study summarizing the optimization methods of tACS. Determining whether different optimization methods are effective and the optimization approach could provide information that could guide future tACS research. …
