Dietrich von Hildebrand’s Criticism of Amoral Sex Education

2019

This article analyzes Dietrich von Hildebrand’s criticism of amoral sex education, which he regards as misleading and anti-educational in many crucial respects. Its content is misleading, because it separates human sexuality from its inherent connection with married love and thereby fails to do justice to the personal and intimate nature of sexuality. Its reductive and neutralizing approach not only fails to develop young people’s capacity for the transcendence implicit in moral agency, it also fails to provide the preconditions for the development of their authe-antic subjectivity. Instead of fostering objectivity, critical thinking and autonomy, amoral sex education promotes a normatively…

Fixed point results on metric-type spaces

2014

Abstract In this paper we obtain fixed point and common fixed point theorems for self-mappings defined on a metric-type space, an ordered metric-type space or a normal cone metric space. Moreover, some examples and an application to integral equations are given to illustrate the usability of the obtained results.

Innovative Method for the Transmission of Knowledge in Food Engineering

2019

Abstract Pedagogical research is a way of explaining the educational phenomenon. Through this, it develops optimal solutions to the problems raised by the instructive-educational process, by following the social exigencies. The experimental activity took place between October 2018 and February 2019 at the University “Lucian Blaga” of Sibiu, within the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Food Industry and Environmental Protection. The main objectives were reducing the percentage of students with weak exam results, developing the intrinsic motivation of students, using of teaching materials in increased efficiency, developing active, realistic, investigative thinking, synthetic and clear expres…

Predictability of properties of ternary systems solvent/solvent/polymer from interaction parameters of the binary systems—III. Analysis of binary pot…

1990

Abstract The assumption that the ternary parameter, g τ , and its derivative with respect to polymer concentration, ( ∂g τ / ∂φ 3 ) μ 1 , φ 3 → 0 , can be described by three binary interaction parameters, g o i 3 ( i = 1, 2) and g 12 , implies that these must be independent functions. This feature has been demonstrated by using g o i 3 values obtained from A/B/polymer(P) and C/D/P ternary polymer systems to predict the ternary properties, namely preferential solvation (λ), second virial coefficient ( A 2 ) and intrinsic viscosity ([η]), of a A/C/P ternary system. Two distinct polymers, polystyrene(PS) and poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS), have been utilized in three solvent mixtures, benzene(BZ…

Luminescence of ZrO2 Nanocrystals

2005

The luminescence of nanocrystalline tetragonal and cubic ZrO2 has been investigated. The tetragonal undoped ZrO2 revealed two luminescence bands, at ~2.0 eV and 2.7 eV , but only one band at ~2.7 eV was observed from cubic ZrO2. This luminescence was shown to be intrinsic. The regular zirconium-oxygen complex excited state is suggested as being responsible for intrinsic luminescence.

More on Diagrams

2017

The aim of this chapter is to introduce and study additional structures on a diagram such that its diagram category becomes a rigid tensor category. The assumptions are tailored to the application to Nori motives.

Predicting accelerometer-based physical activity in physical education and total physical activity: The Self-determination Theory approach

2019

The present study tested the motivational model of physical education (PE) including needs for competence, autonomy, social relatedness, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, in-class moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA), and total MVPA. Participants were 490 (264 girls, 226 boys) Finnish elementary school students. The data were collected using accelerometers and questionnaires for a seven-day period during the fall semester 2017. The key findings were that 1) social relatedness associated with total MVPA via in-class MVPA in girls, whereas competence was linked to in-class MVPA through extrinsic motivation in boys, 2) competence was positively linked to extrinsic motivation in a si…

A new rotational integral formula for intrinsic volumes in space forms

2010

A new rotational version of Crofton's formula is derived for the intrinsic volumes of a domain Y in a space form. More precisely, a functional is defined on the intersection between Y and a totally geodesic submanifold (plane) through a fixed point, such that the rotational average of this functional is equal to the intrinsic volumes of Y. Particular cases of interest in stereology are considered for the Euclidean case. © 2009 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Exciton emission and defect formation in yttrium trifluoride

2005

Two intrinsic emission bands at 220 and 280 nm have been detected in nominally pure YF3 powders at 10 K. Excitation spectra for both emissions have a sharp peak at 12 eV near the edge of interband transition. Observed emissions are assigned to the radiative decay of self-trapped excitons in YF3. The strong thermal quenching of intrinsic luminescence was observed at temperature above 120 K. It was supposed that non-radiative decay of self-trapped exciton at high temperatures lead to defect formation in YF3. (© 2005 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

A comparative study on Kθ evaluation from [η]-M data in single and mixed solvents through various excluded volume theories

1991

Abstract By allowing for the dependence of B on molecular weight, through its relationship with A2, modified Flory-Fox-Schaefgen, Kurata-Stockmayer-Roig, Berry and Inagaki-Suzuki-Kurata equations are obtained, relating [η] to A2 and to Kθ. Through these equations, Kθ can be determined from data sets for [η]-A2. Because of the scarcity of these data sets, A2 values have been calculated from experimental data for [η] and trial Kθ values through two parameter theories, namely, through the Flory-Krigbaum-Orofino theory for Ψ. Iterative processes were followed until coincidence was obtained between trial Kθ values and those evaluated from the modified excluded volume equations. The method has be…
