Evidence//Intuibility

2020

The concept of evidence is implied by distinct kinds of cognitive and reasoning processes carried out in ordinary experience or in specialized domains of knowledge, like science, philosophy, logic and mathematics. Theories have been developed along three orthogonal axes. Along the first axis, theories are located according to their view on evidence as a necessary and sufficient condition for knowledge. Along the second axis, theories are located according to the cognitive characterization of evidence. On the third axis, theories are distinguished by the individuation of the bearers of evidence.

AN ADDENDUM TO: A COMMON FIXED POINT THEOREM IN INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY METRIC SPACE USING SUBCOMPATIBLE MAPS"

2012

The aim of this note is to point out a fallacy in the proof of Theorem 3.1 contained in the recent paper ( Int. J. Contemp. Math. Sci. 5 (2010), 2699-2707) proved in intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces employing the newly introduced notion of sub-compatible pair of mappings wherein our claim is also substantiated with the aid of an appropriate example. We also rectify the erratic theorem in two ways.

(φ, ψ)-weak contractions in intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces

2014

The purpose of this paper is to extend the notion of (phi,psi)-weak contraction to intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces, by using an altering distance function. We obtain common fixed point results in intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces, which generalize several known results from the literature.

“Just Going through the Motions….”: A Qualitative Exploration of Athlete Perceptions of Social Loafing in Training and Competition Contexts — Implica…

2014

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with twenty team sport athletes representing a range of different sports with the aim of investigating their views relating to social loafing in training and competition. General themes investigated and subsequent content analysis highlighted factors that promote or reduce the extent of social loafing. Determinants of self-loafing were grouped according to three distinct categories: Group processes; Task characteristics and Individual perceptions. Social loafing among others was perceived to be prevalent in both the training and competition scenarios with more examples of social loafing provided in the training situation. The signs of social loafin…

Senti chi parla. Su un aspetto dell’attività di parola a partire da Lacan.

2017

The paper analyzes a theoretical point of interest of the lacanian psychoanalysis: the role of the speaker as his own hearer. In order to explicate some details of this topic we connect the lacanian intuition with some operations of the human language activity.Lacan epilinguistics otherness dialogism.

Intuition Pumps and the Proper Use of Thought Experiments

2005

I begin with an explication of "thought experiment". I then clarify the role that intuitions play in thought experiments by addressing two important issues: (1) the informativeness of thought experiments and (2) the legitimacy of the method of thought experiments in philosophy and the natural sciences. I defend a naturalistic account of intuitions that provides a plausible explanation of the informativeness of thought experiments, which, in turn, allows thought experiments to be reconstructed as arguments. I also specify criteria for distinguishing bad "intuition pumps" from legitimate thought experiments. These criteria help us to avoid being seduced by the dangerous suggestive power of mi…

¿Intuición o confianza racional?

2018

Intuition or rational trust?

Games and Bisimulations for Intuitionistic First-Order Kripke Models

2021

The aim of this paper is to introduce the notion of a game for intuitionisticfirst-order Kripke models. We also establish links between notions presented here and thenotions of logical equivalence and bounded bisimulation for intuitionistic first-order Kripkemodels, and the Ehrenfeucht–Fra ̈ıss ́e game for classical first-order structures.

Crisis Management Between Public Relations and the Holonic Multi-Agent Approach

2018

Abstract Crisis management represents a multidisciplinary topic in many sciences. Social sciences, state affairs, medicine, engineering and many others are interested to handle unforeseen major great impact events. The paper presents some differences and common topics of crisis management using two different approaches. The first is Public Relations (PR), as part of the communication sciences; and the second is the Holonic Multi-Agent (HMAS) Concept, which is a research topic belonging to software engineering and computational sciences. We have two different approaches, but one common goal: providing the feasible support for the crisis management team under abnormal working conditions. Deal…
