Measurement of exclusive γγ→ℓ+ℓ− production in proton–proton collisions at s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
2015
This Letter reports a measurement of the exclusive gamma gamma -> l(+)l(-) (l = e, mu) cross-section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, based on an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb(-1). For the electron or muon pairs satisfying exclusive selection criteria, a fit to the dilepton acoplanarity distribution is used to extract the fiducial cross-sections. The cross-section in the electron channel is determined to be sigma(excl)(gamma gamma -> e+e-) = 0.428 +/- 0.035 (stat.) +/- 0.018 (syst.) pbfor a phase-space region with invariant mass of the electron pairs greater than 24GeV, in which both electrons have transverse momentum p(T)…
Measurement of differentialtt¯production cross sections inpp¯collisions
2014
The production of top quark-antiquark pair events in pp collisions at root s= 1.96 TeV is studied as a function of the transverse momentum and absolute value of the rapidity of the top quarks as well as of the invariant mass of the tt pair. We select events containing an isolated lepton, a large imbalance in transverse momentum, and four or more jets with at least one jet identified as originating from a b quark. The data sample corresponds to 9.7 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Observed differential cross sections are consistent with standard model predictions.
Hidden charm pentaquark and Λ(1405) in the Λb0→ηcK−p(πΣ) reaction
2018
Abstract We have performed a study of the Λ b 0 → η c K − p and Λ b 0 → η c π Σ reactions based on the dominant Cabibbo favored weak decay mechanism. We show that the K − p produced only couples to Λ ⁎ states, not Σ ⁎ and that the πΣ state is only generated from final state interaction of K ¯ N and ηΛ channels which are produced in a primary stage. This guarantees that the πΣ state is generated in isospin I = 0 and we see that the invariant mass produces a clean signal for the Λ ( 1405 ) of higher mass at 1420 MeV. We also study the η c p final state interaction, which is driven by the excitation of a hidden charm resonance predicted before. We relate the strength of the different invariant…
Test of phi renormalization in nuclei through phi photoproduction
2000
We propose an experimental procedure to find out the medium modifications of the $\phi$ meson. The reaction is inclusive $\phi$ photoproduction in nuclei, looking for $K^+ K^-$ pairs from the $\phi$ decay with total momentum smaller than 100-150 $MeV/c$, which are made possible at energies of present laboratories from center of mass $\phi$ backward production and the help of Fermi motion. We have conducted a many body calculation of the mass distribution of the $\phi$ adapted to the experimental set up of a recent JLAB experiment where the backwards $\phi$ photoproduction has been measured. Using recent results for the in medium properties of the $\phi$, we find that the width of the invari…
Photoproduction of scalar mesons on protons and nuclei
1999
We study the photoproduction of scalar mesons close to the threshold of f_0(980) and a_0(980) using a unitary chiral model. Peaks for both resonances show up in the invariant mass distributions of pairs of pseudoscalar mesons. A discussion is made on the photoproduction of these resonances in nuclei, which can shed light on their nature, a subject of continuous debate.
Radiative open charm decay of the Y(3940), Z(3930), X(4160) resonances
2009
We determine the radiative decay amplitudes for the decay into D* and (D) over bar gamma, or (D) over bar gamma(s)* and s. of some of the charmonium- like states classified as X, Y, Z resonances, plus some other hidden charm states which are dynamically generated from the interaction of vector mesons with charm. The mass distributions as a function of the (D) over bar gamma or (D) over bar (s)gamma. invariant mass show a peculiar behavior as a consequence of the D* (D) over bar gamma* nature of these states. The experimental search of these magnitudes can shed light on the nature of these states.
Observation of the Dalitz decayη′→γe+e−
2015
We report the first observation of the Dalitz decay eta' -> gamma e(+)e(-), based on a data sample of 1.31 billion J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector. The eta' mesons are produced via the J/psi -> gamma eta' decay process. The ratio (eta' -> gamma e(+)e(-))/Gamma (eta' -> gamma gamma) is measured to be (2.13 +/- 0.09(stat) +/- 0.07(sys)) x 10(-2). This corresponds to a branching fraction B(eta' -> gamma e(+)e(-)) = (4.69 +/- 0.20(stat) +/- 0.23(sys)) x 10(-4). The transition form factor is extracted and different expressions are compared to the measured dependence on the e(+)e(-) invariant mass. The results are consistent with the prediction of the vector meson dominance model.
Study of resonances in exclusiveBdecays toD¯(*)D(*)K
2008
We present a study of resonances in exclusive decays of $B$ mesons to $\bar{D}^{(*)} D^{(*)} K$. We report the observation of the decays $B \to \Dbar^{(*)} D^+_{s1}(2536)$ where the $D^+_{s1}(2536)$ is reconstructed in the $D^{*0}K^+$ and $D^{*+} K^0_S$ decay channels. We report also the observation of the decays $B \to \psi(3770) K$ where the $\psi(3770)$ decays to $\Dbar^0 D^0$ and $D^- D^+$. In addition, we present the observation of an enhancement for the $\Dbar^{*0} D^0$ invariant mass in the decays $B \to \Dbar^{*0} D^0 K$, at a mass of $(3875.1 {}^{+0.7}_{-0.5} \pm 0.5)$ MeV/$c^2$ with a width of $(3.0 {}^{+1.9}_{-1.4} \pm 0.9)$ MeV (the first errors are statistical and the second ar…
Study ofB→D(*)Ds(J)(*)decays and measurement ofDs−andDsJ(2460)−branching fractions
2006
We present branching fraction measurements of twelve B meson decays of the form B --> D^(*)D_s(J)^(*). The results are based on Y(4S) decays in BBbar pairs. One of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and the other decays to two charm mesons, of which one is reconstructed, and the mass and momentum of the other is inferred by kinematics. Combining these results with previous exclusive branching fraction measurements, we determine BR(D_s^- --> phi pi^-) = (4.62 +/- 0.36_stat. +/- 0.51_syst.)%, BR(D_sJ(2460)^- --> D_s^*- pi^0) = (56 +/- 13_stat. +/- 9_syst.)% and BR(D-sJ(2460)^- --> D_s^- gamma) = (16 +/- 4_stat. +/- 3_syst.)%.
Study of theDsJ*(2317)+andDsJ(2460)+mesons in inclusivecc¯production nears=10.6 GeV
2006
A study of the $D_{sJ}^*(2317)^+$ and $D_{sJ}(2460)^+$ mesons in inclusive $c\bar{c}$ production is presented using 232~${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected by the BaBar experiment near $\sqrt{s} = 10.6$~\gev. Final states consisting of a $D_s^+$ meson along with one or more $\pi^0$, $\pi^\pm$, or $\gamma$ particles are considered. Estimates of the mass and limits on the width are provided for both mesons and for the $D_{s1}(2536)^+$ meson. A search is also performed for neutral and doubly-charged partners of the $D_{sJ}^*(2317)^+$ meson.
