Acute type A aortic dissection is a lethal condition requiring emergency surgery. It has diverse presentations, and the diagnosis can be missed or delayed. Once diagnosed, decisions with regard to initial management, transfer, appropriateness of surgery, timing of operation, and intervention for malperfusion complications are necessary. Lymph node neck metastases are frequent in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Current guidelines state, on a weak level of evidence, that level VI dissection is mandatory in the presence of latero-cervical metastases. The aim of our study is to evaluate predictive factors for the absence of level VI involvement despite the presence of metastases to the lateral cervical stations in PTC. Darba mērķis bija iegūt parastā apiņa in vitro augu un audu (kallusu) kultūras un raksturot no tām, kā arī no lapu drogām, iegūtu ekstraktu antiradikālo un antimikrobiālo aktivitāti. In vitro augu un audu kultūru ieguvei tika ievākti trīs apiņa šķirņu paraugi. Analizējot kopējo fenolu saturu, antiradikālo un antimikrobiālo aktivitāti, tika savstarpēji salīdzināti drogu, in vitro augu un kallusu kultūru ekstrakti, kā arī izvērtētas efektivākās ekstrakcijas metodes. Kallusu kultūras tika iegūtas uz ar augšanas regulatoriem bagātinātas McCown Woody Plant barotnes. Apikālais periodontīts (AP) ir izplatīta hroniska iekaisuma slimība, kas izpaužas kā dinamiska organisma aizsargreakcija pret mikrobu infekciju zobu sakņu kanālu sistēmā. Pētījumi liecina, ka AP ir plaši izplatīts pieaugušajiem - vismaz viens zobs ar AP ir 27 - 80% pieaugušo (Kirkevang & Vaeth, 2019). AP ir tieša saistība ar sakņu kanālu ārstēšanas kvalitāti – nekvalitatīva ārstēšana tiek saistīta ar palielinātu AP izplatību (Chala et al., 2011; Meirinhos et al., 2020). Darba mērķis bija izpētīt apikālā periodontīta izplatību un endodontiskās ārstēšanas biežumu un kvalitāti izvēlētā Latvijas pieaugušo populācijā.

Polyphenols and Pharmacological Screening of a Monarda fistulosa L. dry Extract Based on a Hydrodistilled Residue By-Product

This study aimed to determine the composition and content of polyphenols in the dry extract obtained from the hydrodistilled residue by-product of the wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa L., Lamiaceae Martinov family) herb (MFDE) and to evaluate its safety and pharmacological properties. The total phenolic content (TPC) in the MFDE was 120.64 mg GAE/g. The high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis showed the presence of a plethora of phenolic compounds, including hydroxycinnamic acids and flavone derivatives in the MFDE, with rosmarinic acid and luteolin-7-O-glucoside being the main components. With an IC50 value of 0.285 mg/mL, it was found to be a strong DPPH radical scavenger. …

The electronic structures and molecular properties of S2N2 as well as the currently unknown chalcogen nitrides Se2N2 and SeSN2 have been studied using various ab initio and density functional methods. All molecules share a qualitatively similar electronic structure and can be primarily described as 2π-electron aromatics having minor singlet diradical character of 6−8% that can be attributed solely to the nitrogen atoms. Facile formation of the ditelluride [(TePiPr2NiPr2PTe-)2], which exists as a centrosymmetric dimer (see picture: Te green, P purple, N blue, C gray) with a weak Te[BOND]Te bond, embodies a new feature of the chemistry of dichalcogenoimidodiphosphinate ligands.
