Widespread Pain Hypersensitivity and Lumbopelvic Impairments in Women Diagnosed with Endometriosis.

2021

Abstract Objective To explore hypersensitivity to pain and musculoskeletal impairments in the lumbopelvic area in women with and without endometriosis. Methods This cross-sectional study included 66 women (41 women with endometriosis and 25 healthy women). Pain and related catastrophizing thoughts were assessed through a numeric rating scale, pressure pain thresholds (PPTs), the slump test, and the Pain Catastrophizing Scale. Lumbopelvic muscles were evaluated through ultrasound imaging, flexor/extensor resistance tests, and the lumbopelvic stability test. Results Women with endometriosis showed increased self-reported intensity of current pelvic pain (CuPP), reduced local PPTs (42.8–64.7% …

Efficacy and tolerability of a plant-based, multi-component cream (Ginetrox®) in vulvovaginal disorders of the genitourinary syndrome during menopaus…

2017

BACKGROUND Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) is a symptomatic condition including vaginal dryness, irritation, dyspareunia and recurrent urinary tract infections which affects 40-54% of post-menopausal women. Although several estrogen-based therapies are available, it is generally preferable to avoid hormonal therapy, particularly in women with mild symptoms or at risk for estrogen-responsive neoplasia. Therefore, the most common treatment options are over-the-counter vaginal creams for symptomatic relief. METHODS Thirty-three postmenopausal women suffering from GSM were enrolled in this observational study. A multi-component cream (Ginetrox®, Indena, Milan, Italy) was applied on th…

Clinical-therapeutic management of drooling: Review and update.

2010

Drooling is the uncontrolled leakage of saliva outside the mouth, generally as a result of difficulty in swallowing the saliva produced. Many factors contribute to drooling, though it is more commonly seen in children with brain paralysis - particularly those receiving anticonvulsivant medication. Drooling is also often seen in patients with lip sealing problems or malocclusions such as anterior open bite. Clinically, the affected patients can develop skin irritation or abrasions, problems of hygiene, unpleasant smell and - in the more severe presentations - the need to wear protectors or frequently change clothing. Treatment of this disorder is complex, and should be addressed from a multi…

Contributions to risk injury evaluation of human skin contact caused by welding technology in mechanical engineering a company

2017

Assembly by welding is a very important pollutant technological process, mainly of the atmosphere and soil. The formation of gas in welding process is the result of electrodes, fluxes burning, formation of fused bath and welded seam. A large number of human operators feels different adverse effects on health. Most problems appears in respiratory system and include bronchitis, respiratory irritation, fever caused by smoke, changes in lung function, decreased immunity to infection and a possible increase of lung cancer risk. Very little information are available about effects on the organism and skin after exposure to fumes from welding, therefore. In this order, this paper do a risk assessme…
