An exceptional outbreak of Macroscytus brunneus (Fabricius, 1803) (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Cydnidae) on Linosa island (Pelagian Islands, Sicily)
2018
An exceptional outbreak of the burrowing bug Macroscytus brunneus occurred in summer 2017 on Linosa island (Pelagian Islands, Sicily). Huge numbers of specimens, attracted to the lights of the small village, interfered heavily with human activities for almost three months. The few precedent cases reported in literature are reviewed.
Galiana: història d’un falcó
2021

This study deals with the ancient temple of San Lorenzo in the city of Valencia, its art-historical over eight centuries and also the convent annex vicissitudes in the last century welcomed the Franciscans and served as headquarters Valencia, Aragon and the Balearic Islands. As recently …
Llengua i identitat en l’obra de Benvingut Oliver i Joan Baptista Perales
2015
DNA Methylation and Non-Coding RNAs during Tissue-Injury Associated Pain.
2022
While about half of the population experience persistent pain associated with tissue damages during their lifetime, current symptom-based approaches often fail to reduce such pain to a satisfactory level. To provide better patient care, mechanism-based analgesic approaches must be developed, which necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the nociceptive mechanism leading to tissue injury-associated persistent pain. Epigenetic events leading the altered transcription in the nervous system are pivotal in the maintenance of pain in tissue injury. However, the mechanisms through which those events contribute to the persistence of pain are not fully understood. This review provides a summar…
New combinations in Balearic plants
1997
Se proponen tres nuevas combinaciones nomenclaturales de plantas endémicas de las Islas Baleares: Ranunculus paludosus Poiret subsp. barceloi (Grau) Rosselló, L. Sáez & N. Torres, Omonis crispa L. subsp. zachackei (F. Herm.) Rosselló & L. Sáez y Ophrys bertolonii Morettii subsp. baleárica (Delforge) Rosselló & L. Sáez. Three new nomenclatural changes of vascular plants endemic of the Balearic archipelago are proposed: Ranunculus paludosus Poiret subsp. Barceloi (Grau) Rosselló, L. Sáez & N. Torres, Ononis crispa L. subsp. zschackei (F. Herm.) Rosselló & L. Sáez and Ophrys bertolonii Morettii subsp. baleárica (Delforge) Rosselló & L. Sáez.
Induced Pluripotent Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Clones Retain Donor-derived Differences in DNA Methylation Profiles
2012
Reprogramming of somatic cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) is an epigenetic phenomenon. It has been suggested that iPSC retain some tissue-specific memory whereas little is known about interindividual epigenetic variation. We have reprogrammed mesenchymal stromal cells from human bone marrow (iP-MSC) and compared their DNA methylation profiles with initial MSC and embryonic stem cells (ESCs) using high-density DNA methylation arrays covering more than 450,000 CpG sites. Overall, DNA methylation patterns of iP-MSC and ESC were similar whereas some CpG sites revealed highly significant differences, which were not related to parental MSC. Furthermore, hypermethylation in iP-MSC…
The evaluation of urban soils aimed at the sustainability of plants in public and private flowerbeds
2020
The authors report the survey of some flowerbeds located in the city of Palermo with the aim of assessing the sustainability of the plants and the interventions to be implemented, i.e. cutting or transfer of plants, to achieve a sustainable green. In the case in which it is possible to insert other plants in the flowerbeds, it is recommended to elaborate a project using programs that allow to have a preview of the spaces available for the new plants. This work is methodological and is aimed at creating a green that can achieve the functional objectives in relation to the site where it is located (sustainability in all aspects) and at low management costs with no or almost no irrigation prac…
