The amino acid L-phenylalanine has been cocrystallized with D-2-aminobutyric acid, C(9)H(11)NO(2).C(4)H(9)NO(2), D-norvaline, C(9)H(11)NO(2).C(5)H(11)NO(2), and D-methionine, C(9)H(11)NO(2).C(5)H(11)NO(2)S, with linear side chains, as well as with D-leucine, C(9)H(11)NO(2).C(6)H(13)NO(2), D-isoleucine, C(9)H(11)NO(2).C(6)H(13)NO(2), and D-allo-isoleucine, C(9)H(11)NO(2).C(6)H(13)NO(2), with branched side chains. A series of titanium complexes having tellurium-bridged chelating bis(aryloxo) ligands, [TiX2{2,2‘-Te(4-Me-6-tBu-C6H2O)2}]2 (5: X = Cl; 6: X = OiPr), catalyzed the ring-opening polymerization of cyclic esters such as e-caprolactone, δ-valerolactone, and l-lactide. The strong dependence of polymerizations on the solvent was observed in this catalytic system. When the polymerizations of e-caprolactone and l-lactide were carried out in toluene at 100 °C, tellurium-bridged bis(aryloxo)titanium complex 5 was found to give polymers with rather broad molecular weight distribution due to back-biting. Heterogeneous catalytic oxidation of a series of thioethers (2-thiomethylpyrimidine, 2-thiomethyl-4,6-dimethyl-pyrimidine, 2-thiobenzylpyrimidine, 2-thiobenzyl-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine, thioanisole, and n-heptyl methyl sulfide) was performed in ionic liquids by using MCM-41 and UVM-type mesoporous catalysts containing Ti, or Ti and Ge. A range of triflate, tetrafluoroborate, trifluoroacetate, lactate and bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)-imide-based ionic liquids were used. Effect of Antioxidants on Microsomal Enzymes of Rat Liver

Rat diet was supplemented with butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) or ethoxyquin (EQ) for 14 days, and hepatic microsomal epoxide hydratase (EH) and monooxygenase were subsequently studied in vitro. The antioxidants increased EH activity. The increase was marked with BHT (factor 3) and EQ (factor 4) and was paralleled by an increase in a protein band on SDS polyacrylamide gels which migrated together with purified rat hepatic EH.
