Heavy quark spin symmetric molecular states from D¯(*)Σc(*) and other coupled channels in the light of the recent LHCb pentaquarks

2019

We consider the ${\overline{D}}^{(*)}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{c}^{(*)}$ states, together with $J/\ensuremath{\psi}N$ and other coupled channels, and take an interaction consistent with heavy quark spin symmetry, with the dynamical input obtained from an extension of the local hidden gauge approach. By fitting only one parameter to the recent three pentaquark states reported by the LHCb Collaboration, we can reproduce the three of them in base to the mass and the width, providing for them the quantum numbers and approximate molecular structure as $1/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ $\overline{D}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{c}$, $1/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ ${\overline{D}}^{*}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{…

Constraints for the nuclear sea quark distributions from the Drell–Yan process at the SPS

2000

Nuclear modifications to the Drell-Yan dilepton production cross sections in p+A and A+A collisions in the leading twist approximation are caused by nuclear effects in the parton distributions of bound nucleons. For non-isoscalar nuclei, isospin corrections must also be considered. We calculate these effects for p+A and Pb+Pb collisions at CERN SPS energies. Our goal is to place constraints on nuclear effects in sea quark distributions in the region x > 0.2. We show that the net nuclear corrections remain small for p+A collisions at E_lab=450 GeV. However, in Pb+Pb collisions at E_lab=158 AGeV, effects of > 20% are predicted at large M. The data collected by the NA50 collaboration cou…

Improved Measurement ofB+→ρ+ρ0and Determination of the Quark-Mixing Phase Angleα

2009

We present improved measurements of the branching fraction ${\cal B}$, the longitudinal polarization fraction $f_L$, and the direct {\ensuremath{CP}\xspace} asymmetry {\ensuremath{{\cal A}_{CP}}\xspace} in the $B$ meson decay channel $B^+\to\rho^+\rho^0$. The data sample was collected with the {{\slshape B\kern-0.1em{\smaller A}\kern-0.1em B\kern-0.1em{\smaller A\kern-0.2em R}}} detector at SLAC. The results are ${\cal B} (\Bp\ra\rprz)=(23.7\pm1.4\pm1.4)\times10^{-6}$, $f_L=0.950\pm0.015\pm0.006$, and $\Acp=-0.054\pm0.055\pm0.010$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Based on these results, we perform an isospin analysis and determine the CKM weak phase ang…

Deeply virtual compton scattering off the neutron.

2007

The present experiment exploits the interference between the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) and the Bethe-Heitler processes to extract the imaginary part of DVCS amplitudes on the neutron and on the deuteron from the helicity-dependent D$({\vec e},e'\gamma)X$ cross section measured at $Q^2$=1.9 GeV$^2$ and $x_B$=0.36. We extract a linear combination of generalized parton distributions (GPDs) particularly sensitive to $E_q$, the least constrained GPD. A model dependent constraint on the contribution of the up and down quarks to the nucleon spin is deduced.

QCD isospin breaking in meson masses, decay constants and quark mass ratios

2001

The procedure to calculate masses and matrix-elements in the presence of mixing of the basis states is explained in detail. We then apply this procedure to the two-loop calculation in Chiral Perturbation Theory of pseudoscalar masses and decay constants including quark mass isospin breaking. These results are used to update our analysis of $K_{\ell4}$ done previously and obtain a value of $m_u/m_d$ in addition to values for the low-energy-constants $L_i^r$.

Combining heavy quark spin and local hidden gauge symmetries in the dynamical generation of hidden charm baryons

2013

We present a coupled channel unitary approach to obtain states dynamically generated from the meson-baryon interaction with hidden charm, using constraints of heavy quark spin symmetry. As a basis of states, we use (D) over barB, (D) over bar *B states, with B baryon charmed states belonging to the 20 representations of SU(4) with J(P) = 1/2(+), 3/2(+). In addition we also include the eta N-c and J/psi N states. The inclusion of these coupled channels is demanded by heavy quark spin symmetry, since in the large m(Q) limit the D and D* states are degenerate and are obtained from each other by means of a spin rotation, under which QCD is invariant. The novelty in the work is that we use dynam…

S=−1meson-baryon unitarized coupled channel chiral perturbation theory and theS01resonances Λ(1405) and -Λ(1670)

2003

The $s-$wave meson-baryon scattering is analyzed for the strangeness $S=-1$ and isospin I=0 sector in a Bethe-Salpeter coupled channel formalism incorporating Chiral Symmetry. Four channels have been considered: $\pi \Sigma$, $\bar K N$, $\eta \Lambda$ and $K \Xi$. The required input to solve the Bethe-Salpeter equation is taken from lowest order Chiral Perturbation Theory in a relativistic formalism. There appear undetermined low energy constants, as a consequence of the renormalization of the amplitudes, which are obtained from fits to the $\pi\Sigma\to\pi\Sigma$ mass-spectrum, to the elastic $\bar K N \to \bar K N$ and $ \bar K N\to \pi \Sigma$ $t$--matrices and to the $ K^- p \to \eta \…

Spin–isospin excitations probed by strong, weak and electro-magnetic interactions

2011

Abstract Gamow–Teller (GT) transitions are the most common weak interaction processes of spin–isospin ( σ τ ) type in atomic nuclei. They are of interest not only in nuclear physics but also in astrophysics; they play an important role in supernovae explosions and nucleosynthesis. The direct study of weak decay processes, however, gives relatively limited information about GT transitions and the states excited via GT transitions (GT states); β decay can only access states at excitation energies lower than the decay Q -value, and neutrino-induced reactions have very small cross-sections. However, one should note that β decay has a direct access to the absolute GT transition strengths B (GT) …

Study ofB¯→Xuℓν¯decays inBB¯events tagged by a fully reconstructedB-meson decay and determination of|Vub|

2012

We report measurements of partial branching fractions for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays Bbar --> Xu l nubar, and the determination of the CKM matrix element |V_{ub}|. The analysis is based on a sample of 467 million Upsilon(4S) --> BBar decays recorded with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II e^+ e^- storage rings. We select events in which the decay of one of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and an electron or a muon signals the semileptonic decay of the other B meson. We measure partial branching fractions DeltaB in several restricted regions of phase space and determine the CKM element |V_{ub}| based on four different QCD predictions. For decays with a charged lepton momentum…
