Production of halogenated compounds by Bjerkandera adusta.
1994
International audience; The white-rot fungusBjerkandera adusta produces volatile chlorinated phenyl compounds. The main compounds identified were 3-chloro-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (3-chloro-p-anisaldehyde), 3-chloro-4-methoxybenzyl alcohol (3-chloro-p-anisyl alcohol), 3,5-dichloro-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (3,5-dichloro-p-anisaldehyde), and 3,5-dichloro, 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol (3,5-dichloro-p-anisyl alcohol).p-Anisaldehyde, veratraldehyde and the corresponding alcohols,p-anisyl alcohol and veratryl alcohol were produced simultaneously. Even with a very low concentration of chloride in the medium (<>–5 m), chlorinated aromatic compounds were still observed. Addition of bromide to the culture mediu…
Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Combretastatin A-4 and Three Combretastatin-Based Hybrids
2012
The syntheses of combretastatin A-4 from gallic acid and of three combretastatin-based hybrids are described. Starting from commercial gallic acid, the phosphonium salt (3,4,5-trimethoxybenzylphosphonium bromide) is synthesized and coupled, through a Wittig reaction, with several aldehydes, including methoxymethyl-protected isovanillin, the aldehyde γ-bicyclohomofarnesal having a labdane skeleton, 3-(3-pyridyl) propanal, and furfural. The biological properties of the cis-coupled compounds as cytotoxic, antiviral and antifungal agents are also reported. In addition, pyrogallol, gallic and 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoic acids have been studied biologically.
Vanilloid Derivatives as Tyrosinase Inhibitors Driven by Virtual Screening-Based QSAR Models
2010
A number of vanilloids have been tested as tyrosinase inhibitors using Ligand-Based Virtual Screening (LBVS) driven by QSAR (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship) models as the multi-agent classification system. A total of 81 models were used to screen this family. Then, a preliminary cluster analysis of the selected chemicals was carried out based on their bioactivity to detect possible similar substructural features among these compounds and the active database used in the QSAR model construction. The compounds identified were tested in vitro to corroborate the results obtained in silico. Among them, two chemicals, isovanillin (K(M) (app) = 1.08 mM) near to kojic acid (reference d…
