An optimized algorithm of image stitching in the case of a multi-modal probe for monitoring the evolution of scars

2013

International audience; We propose a new system that makes possible to monitor the evolution of scars after the excision of a tumorous dermatosis. The hardware part of this system is composed of a new optical innovative probe with which two types of images can be acquired simultaneously: an anatomic image acquired under a white light and a functional one based on autofluorescence from the protoporphyrin within the cancer cells. For technical reasons related to the maximum size of the area covered by the probe, acquired images are too small to cover the whole scar. That is why a sequence of overlapping images is taken in order to cover the required area. The main goal of this paper is to des…

Near-field control of optical bistability in a nanocavity

2009

Micro- and nanocavities allow for strong light confinement in very small volume [1]. They give opportunities for new experiments such as cavity quantum electrodynamics, waveguiding, light slowing or trapping…[2] The increase of the electromagnetic (EM) field in the cavity enhances the interaction between light and matter, resulting in the possible observation of nonlinear effects [3]. Several studies have recently been published on the observation and characterisation of nonlinear silicon cavities [4]. As a step further, we propose and demonstrate the feasibility of an innovative way to mechanically control the bistable operating regime of a nanovavity. Using a near-field tip, we switch the…

Pulse timing effects in bulk Er/Yb codoped diode-pumped eyesafe lasers

2007

In this work, diode-pumping with appropriately modulated pulses is used to expose subtle input / output pulse-timing characteristics of Er3+ /Yb3+ systems, study their relation to laser efficiency and demonstrate some unique laser-pulse timing behavior. Er+3/Yb+3 codoped glass and YAG laser-host materials with similar concentrations (optimized for eyesafe emission in the 1.6-mum region) were studied in the same diode-pumped setup, in similar resonator configurations and analogous operating conditions.

Adaptations neuromusculaires des muscles extenseurs du genou : contractions fatigantes uni- vs bi-latérales

2010

The aim of this work was to determine i) the influence of the level of absolute force on the duration of the endurance time, and subsequent neuromuscular alterations in same individual at the end of an exercise performed at the same relative intensity, with one or two legs, ii) the influence of central drive on the force capacity production of the knee extensor muscles during unilateral (UL) vs. bilateral (BL) contractions, iii) activation mechanisms evolution for a serie of submaximal evoked contractions by electrostimulation (EMS). The results of the first study confirm that the endurance limit depends on the level of absolute force for the same individual, contraction duration for UL is …

Protein S-nitrosylation: specificity and identification strategies in plants

2015

SPE Pôle IPM UB; International audience; The role of nitric oxide (NO) as a major regulator of plant physiological functions has become increasingly evident. To further improve our understanding of its role, within the last few years plant biologists have begun to embrace the exciting opportunity of investigating protein S-nitrosylation, a major reversible NO-dependent post-translational modification (PTM) targeting specific Cys residues and widely studied in animals. Thanks to the development of dedicated proteomic approaches, in particular the use of the biotin switch technique (BST) combined with mass spectrometry, hundreds of plant protein candidates for S-nitrosylation have been identi…

Le sanctuaire laténien de Semoine, « Voie Palon » (Aube)

2012

A rescue excavation in 2003 resulted in the discovery of a building on piles, constructed between two sections of ditch, of which the one on the north side has an entrance. The chronological data of the building and two ditches match and demonstrate the existence of cults during La Tène C2. Evidence of the cults is given by a small quantity of deliberately mutilated weapons, as has been found in other La Tène sanctuaries. Dating the creation of the enclosure is problematicaln but it probably derives from La Tène C1. Although sections of the site remained unexcavated, the stratigraphy of the ditches reveals the brevity and limited and unusual nature of the practices. This study links them to…

Anton Tchekhov

2021

Acquiring music information : An incidental learning approach.

2022

This thesis contains my empirical works resulting from three years of studying contingency learning, that is the human ability to learn regularities between two or more events, applied to music. Learning music requires time and effort. However, many skills can be automatized in less time-consuming and effortful ways. Indeed, some research suggests that many elements of music knowledge are mostly implicitly acquired. In Chapter 1, the potential benefit of using an incidental learning procedure to automatize musical sub-skills useful for sight-reading and for pitch identification is discussed. In Chapter 2, the first set of experiments investigate whether an incidental contingency learning ta…
