A method of data structuring for the study of diffusion processes of raw materials and manufactured objects
2017
International audience; Workgroup 3 of the ArchaeDyn II programme aims at studying the diffusion systems of products in ancient times. In order to be able to structure data in GIS in an appropriate way, we propose to go through three levels of modelling: the first one aims at gathering together the different components of the diffusion systems taking into account their interactions; the second corresponds to a conceptual data model created with the help of the HBDS method, that will, as we get to the third stage, lead to the creation of a "three-dimensional" geodatabase. Here we point out the fact that the approach through the simple notion of “site” is not sufficient to study the products’…
An Enhanced Authentication System for the JADE-S Platform
2004
Multi-agent systems require a set of security mechanism threats such as confidentiality, privacy, authentication, data integrity, access control. Authentication is the process of deducing which user has made a specific request in a multi-agent system. The goal of authentication is to allow legitimate system entities to process while denying illegitimate ones. The JADE-S platform requires that users must be authenticated, providing a username and password, in order to be able to perform actions on the platform. In this paper an enhanced user authentication system for the JADE-S platform, requiring user fingerprint in addition to the standard items, is outlined. Due to their uniqueness and im…
A highly dynamic hot hydrothermal system in the subduction environment: Geochemistry and geochronology of jadeitite and associated rocks of the Sierr…
2021
A U-Pb zircon date of ~113 Ma revealed that a variety of jadeitites and related omphacitite, chloritite and albite-rich rocks from the subduction-related Sierra del Convento block-in-serpentinite-matrix mélange (eastern Cuba) formed nearly synchronously with MORB metabasite-derived anatectic trondhjemitic liquids at high-temperature and pressure in a hot subduction environment. Field, petrologic and geochemical data indicate hydrothermal/metasomatic processes triggered by juvenile fluids likely evolved from the crystallizing hydrous trondhjemitic melts. These fluids, variably mixed with sediment-derived fluids and channelized along fractures in the supra-slab mantle, precipitated relatively…
Fast equivariant JADE
2013
Independent component analysis (ICA) is a widely used signal processing tool having applications in various fields of science. In this paper we focus on affine equivariant ICA methods. Two such well-established estimation methods, FOBI and JADE, diagonalize certain fourth order cumulant matrices to extract the independent components. FOBI uses one cumulant matrix only, and is therefore computationally very fast. However, it is not able to separate identically distributed components which is a major drawback. JADE overcomes this restriction. Unfortunately, JADE uses a huge number of cumulant matrices and is computationally very heavy in high-dimensional cases. In this paper, we hybridize the…
Computing Real-Time Dynamic Origin/Destination Matrices from Vehicle-to-Infrastructure Messages Using a Multi-Agent System
2012
Dynamic Origin/Destination matrices are one of the most important parameters for efficient and effective transportation system management. These matrices describe the vehicle flow between different points within a region of interest for a given period of time. Usually, dynamic O/D matrices are estimated from traffic counts provided by induction loop detectors, home interview and/or license plate surveys. Unfortunately, estimation methods take O/D flows as time invariant for a certain number of intervals of time, which cannot be suitable for some traffic applications. However, the advent of information and communication technologies (e.g., vehicle-to-infrastructure dedicated short range comm…
Verification of JADE Agents Using ATL Model Checking
2015
It is widely accepted that the key to successfully developing a system is to produce a thorough system specification and design. This task requires an appropriate formal method and a suitable tool to determine whether or not an implementation conforms to the specifications. In this paper we present an advanced technique to analyse, design and debug JADE software agents, using Alternating-time Temporal Logic (ATL) which is interpreted over concurrent game structures, considered as natural models for compositions of open systems. In development of the proposed solution, we will use our original ATL model checker. In contrast to previous approaches, our tool permits an interactive or programma…
An agent-based system for maritime search and rescue operations
2010
Maritime search and rescue operations are critical missions involving personnel, boats, helicopter, aircrafts in a struggle against time often worsened by adversary sea and weather conditions. In such a context, telecommunication and in- formation systems may play a crucial role sometimes concurring to successfully accomplish the mission. In this paper we present an application able to localize the vessel who has launched a rescue request and to plan the most effective path for rescue assets. The application has been realised as a distributed and open multi-agent system deployed on rescue vehicles as well as on a land maritime stations of the Italian Coast Guard. The system is going to be t…
Agent-based Social Gaming with AMUSE
2014
Abstract This paper describes the core features and the multi-agent architecture of AMUSE (Agent-based Multi-User Social Environment), a novel agent-based platform for social gaming. AMUSE is designed to offer game developers readymade solutions to many issues that are common to social games like, e.g., advanced management of matches, turns and players. AMUSE is developed on top of WADE to leverage the scalable and solid agent-based deployment environment and the PaaS approach that it provides. This paper first outlines some of the motivations that originated the development of AMUSE. Then, it presents the multi-agent architecture of AMUSE and it enumerates the major applicative features th…
A prehistoric jade axe from Galicia (Northwestern Iberia): Researching its origin
2021
International audience; The Vilapedre axe (Lugo, Northwest Iberia) has been traditionally considered by archaeologists as evidence of prehistoric long-distance contacts along the Atlantic Coast of France and Spain. This artefact - as other “Tumiac type” axes (long polished blades, generally butt-perforated) - would have been produced in Brittany during the Neolithic (5th millennium BCE) using jadeitite as raw material, a green-coloured rock for which there are sources in the western Italian Alps. In this paper, we have traced the possible archaeological origin of this artefact back by examining the personal files of one of its first owners, Santiago de la Iglesia. Furthermore, we have condu…
