The Performance Impact of the Supreme Audit Institutions on National Budgets. Great Britain and Romania Case – Comparative Study
2015
Abstract In recent years SAIs have expressed a growing concern fierce increase the value of their work. Although it is difficult to quantify the impact of their work, both quantitatively and qualitatively, the paper aims to show how these institutions report their performance, but also several methods for assessing the financial impact of public audit performed by SAI on national budgets.
Audit Regulation, Auditor Industry Expertise and Effects on Audit Pricing
2018
The diversity of regulations that govern statutory audit in European countries provides the opportunity to analyse how audit regulation affects audit fees. This study is the first to analyse empirically the joint effect of audit regulation and auditor expertise on audit fees for the institutional setting of 14 European countries by using a sample of 4,293 European firms for the period from 2003 to 2011. I analyse four attributes of audit regulation, namely terms for annual renewal of the mandate, nature of the auditors’ liability, whether the state requires joint audits and whether it imposes restrictions on the provision of non-audit services. The main results show that using an industry s…
Experimental characterization of micromechanical and microphological properties of nickel base alloys strained by the growth of an ovide payer made i…
2011
The loss of the corrosion resistance of the alloy 600, a nickel base alloy, during the oxidation in pressurized water reactor (PWR) has been demonstrated by many studies. It induces the intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC). If the chemical composition and the structure of the growing oxide are well-known, the mechanical influence of the oxide on the alloy has not been fully studied, yet. This study aims at bringing new knowledge of the oxidation impact on the mechanical response of the alloy. A new methodology is introduced for determining the local nanodeformation of the alloy 600 induced either by an oxidation or by a tensile loading. This method is based on nanodots disposed a…
Condylar distances in hypermobile temporomandibular joints of patients with excessive mouth openings by using computed tomography
2014
Objectives: hypermobility in Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can manifest higher range of motions in mandible. The aim of this study was to compare the position and distances of the head of condyle to glenoid fossa in TMJs of healthy individuals and patients with mild, moderate and severe TMJ hypermobility. Material and Methods: In this clinical study, 69 patients (between the ages of 22 to 42) with manifestation of joint hypermobility were included and Computed tomography were administered for both TMJs. The patients were divided into three groups based on their maximum mouth opening (MMO): (A) with MMO of 50-55 mm; (B) with MMO between 55 to 65 mm; and (C) with MMO >65 mm. Also, 15 healthy …
Sequential Monte Carlo methods in Bayesian joint models for longitudinal and time-to-event data
2017
Horizontal inequity comparisons
1998
In this paper, we expound the idea that horizontal inequity (HI) in different tax systems be compared by transplanting the HI from one tax system into the other, as a mapping between its pre- and post-tax living standard distributions, and then applying known results to compare the extent of association present in the two joint distributions. We make this idea operational by means of axioms which, we show, lead to an implementable procedure based on the `copula'. Statistical inference procedures are discussed, and illustrative empirical exercises are undertaken for the UK, Canadian and Israeli tax and benefit systems.
Test of the European Joint Research Centre performance model for c-Si PV modules
2012
The performance of ten c-Si PV modules is studied at different levels of illumination and module temperatures and is modeled in terms of relative efficiency with respect to Standard Testing Conditions (STC). A recently proposed model is tested in Nordic conditions for generic mono- and mc-Si devices with screen-printed cells as well as for some high-efficiency cell designs. Two of the modules are field aged. Averaged model coefficients are derived and compared to values found in the literature. Irradiance and module temperatures measured in 2011 are then used to estimate the expected annual energy yields. The measured yields equal the predicted ones within 1.6% (mean bias error −1.0%) which…
Unterschiede im Erhaltungszustand zwischen vorderem und hinterem Kreuzband bei rheumatoider Arthritis
2008
In rheumatoid arthritis (RA) we examined the cruciate ligaments of 16 patients by the use of light- and transmission electron microscopy. Considerable differences between the anterior (ACL) and the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) were observed. The ACL showed dramatic ultrastructural changes, against that the PCL was compact and well conserved. The preservation of PCL in joint surgery can morphologically be recommended. Perhaps the greater inflammatory process on the surface of ACL is responsible for the observed differences.
Agent-based model for the rescheduling of Individual and collective daily activities under uncertainties
2020
Daily activity schedule are popular for people duringdaily life. While, when executing the schedule on the real road network, there are always some disruptions disturbing the planned schedule. To deal with this problem, daily activity rescheduling is necessary. This thesis regards the disruptions from the activity schedule execution environment as unexpected events (uncertainties). It establishes agent-based models to simulate the activity rescheduling decision process from the aspects of individual activity rescheduling and joint trip renegotiating. For the individual activity rescheduling, the model in this thesis wants to explore the relationship between a pair of episodes (two connected …
Cross-Talk Correction Method for Knee Kinematics in Gait Analysis Using Principal Component Analysis (PCA): A New Proposal
2014
International audience; Background: In 3D gait analysis, the knee joint is usually described by the Eulerian way. It consists in breaking down the motion between the articulating bones of the knee into three rotations around three axes: flexion/extension, abduction/adduction and internal/external rotation. However, the definition of these axes is prone to error, such as the "cross-talk'' effect, due to difficult positioning of anatomical landmarks. This paper proposes a correction method, principal component analysis (PCA), based on an objective kinematic criterion for standardization, in order to improve knee joint kinematic analysis. Methods: The method was applied to the 3D gait data of …
