2015

At the heart of urban dynamics over the past few decades, the reconversion of riverside and port spaces in cities of the western world is associated with the deindustrialisation of these sites, often situated near historic city centres. This contemporary situation puts industrial heritage conversion at the centre of thinking which goes beyond the mere conservation of the original value of the buildings to question the future of cities, in relation to the notion of sustainability. In New York, after thirty years of neglect, the old railway viaduct known as the “High Line” has been transformed into an elevated, linear urban parkway. The project must be reframed within the Hudson Riverpark ope…

2004

Swyer-James-MacLeod Syndrome (SJMS) is considered to be a relatively uncommon and complex disease characterized by roentgenographic hyperlucency of one lung, lobe, or part of a lobe, due the pulmonary vascular structure and alveolar overdistension. It is sometimes associated with bronchiectasis. This syndrome seems to be an acquired disease that develops after viral bronchiolitis and/or viral pneumonia in early childhood. Microscopically, there is evidence of patchy bronchitis and bronchiolitis.SJMS is usually asymptomatic and discovered accidentally by chest radiography in a child with respiratory symptoms and should be differentiated from other causes of unilateral hyperlucency on chest r…

Papers on the Conservation of Ancient Monuments and Remains. John Ruskin, Gilbert Scott e la Carta inglese della Conservazione (Londra, 1865)

2019

This article offers an interpretation of the possible meanings present in the ancient altar-piece or reredos of Saint James the Apostle in Algemesí [province of Valen…

The Dunkl–Williams constant, convexity, smoothness and normal structure

2008

Abstract In this paper we exhibit some connections between the Dunkl–Williams constant and some other well-known constants and notions. We establish bounds for the Dunkl–Williams constant that explain and quantify a characterization of uniformly nonsquare Banach spaces in terms of the Dunkl–Williams constant given by M. Baronti and P.L. Papini. We also study the relationship between Dunkl–Williams constant, the fixed point property for nonexpansive mappings and normal structure.

Rosyjskie siły lądowe i flota bałtycka w 1715 i 1719 roku w świetle raportów brytyjskich

2020

Kilka z nich będzie przedmiotem analizy, a dane które można z nich odczytać będą mogły świadczyć o rozwoju carskich sił zbrojnych.

“Allochronic Views of Native Americans; or, Vanished Vanishing Indians in The Last of the Mohicans”

2016

James Fenimore Cooper’s The Last of the Mohicans; A Narrative of 1757, first published in 1826, offers an archetypal example, perhaps the archetypal example, of a literary expression of the trope of the Vanishing Indian. This theme is present in many works of nineteenth-century American literature that include Native Americans as their subjects, but Cooper’s romance, whose very title evokes the disappearance of an entire tribe, takes the sad fate of North America’s indigenous peoples as one o...
