In a famous article published in 1993, Raymond Duval highlighted a simple fact: the student may confuse the mathematical object O he is trying to build cognitively with one of its semiotic representations R(O). Duval explained that this confusion was due to a sort of inevitable paradox: only someone who has already built O, can recognize R(O) as a representation of O and not as an object in itself. Thereafter, this thought has been extremely influential for researchers. However, even if in different terms, many scholars of semiotics have emphasized the same phenomenon. Charged jet cross sections and properties in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV

The differential charged jet cross sections, jet fragmentation distributions, and jet shapes are measured in minimum bias proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV using the ALICE detector at the LHC. Jets are reconstructed from charged particle momenta in the mid-rapidity region using the sequential recombination $k_{\rm T}$ and anti-$k_{\rm T}$ as well as the SISCone jet finding algorithms with several resolution parameters in the range $R=0.2$ to $0.6$. Differential jet production cross sections measured with the three jet finders are in agreement in the transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) interval $20<p_{\rm T}^{\rm jet,ch}<100$ GeV/$c$. Fast changes in the morphology of the X-ray emitting shocks in HH 154

Our recent second epoch Chandra observations have shown a fast morphological evolution of the X-ray source associated with the protostellar jet HH 154 (Fig.\ 1). We propose to study the evolution of the optical structures in the jet, specially the ones associated with the X-ray emission with a monitoring program of imaging narrow and broad band optical observations. We will determine the proper motions (and braking) of the optical knows associated with shock features and the evolution of their line luminosity and therefore their cooling time. Por ejemplo, se analizará una lectura intencional, una lectura literal, una lectura moral, una lectura pragmática. Accumulation of sleep loss among shift-working truck drivers

Sleep loss is known to contribute to road traffic accidents. Professional drivers are vulnerable to curtailment of sleep due to long driving bouts and shift work. To fill in the gap in the literature related to the buildup of sleep loss in irregular shift systems, we recorded the sleep and working hours of 47 shift-working long-haul truck drivers during a two-week period. Sleep (time in bed) was verified by actigraphy and sleep logs. Sleepiness was measured using the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale (KSS). Individual sleep need was based on self-assessments.
