Tutkimukseni kuvaa suunnitteluprosessia, jonka tuloksena syntyi luonnostelma ”Alvarin askelissa” teemalukuvuonna (2015–2016) käytettävistä arkkitehtuurikasvatuksen menetelmistä. Teemalukuvuosi johdattaa Seinäjoen kaupungin perusopetuksen 2., 5., 7. ja 8. luokkien oppilaita havainnoimaan ja tiedostamaan arkkitehtuurin ja rakennetun ympäristön merkitystä heidän omassa ympäristössään. Teemalukuvuoden keskiössä on Seinäjoen Alvar Aallon suunnittelema, kuusi rakennusta ja kansalaistorin käsittävä, arkkitehtoninen kokonaisuus, jota kutsutaan Aalto-keskukseksi. Two small-scale surveys were conducted in a small river to examine the effects of physical habitat characteristics, spatial spawning redd distribution and abundance of older juveniles on the Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) fry (age 0+) distribution 1) shortly after the emergence and 2) after the assumed main dispersal period of fry. The effect of physical habitat variables (water depth, water velocity and substratum size), spatial spawning redd distribution and densities of older juveniles were examined using multiple linear regressions. Risk assessment of gypsum amendment on agricultural fields: Effects of sulfate on riverine biota

Gypsum (CaSO4 ∙ 2H2 O) amendment is a promising way of decreasing the phosphorus loading of arable lands, and of thus preventing aquatic eutrophication. However, in freshwaters with low sulfate concentrations, gypsum-released sulfate may pose a threat to the biota. To assess such risks, we performed a series of sulfate toxicity tests in the laboratory and conducted field surveys. These field surveys were associated with a large-scale pilot exercise involving spreading gypsum on agricultural fields covering 18% of the Savijoki River catchment area. AbstractCo-infections are common in host-parasite interactions, but studies about their impact on the virulence of parasites/diseases are still scarce. The present study compared mortality induced by a fatal bacterial pathogen, Flavobacterium columnare between brown trout infected with glochidia from the endangered freshwater pearl mussel, Margaritifera margaritifera, and uninfected control fish during the parasitic period and after the parasitic period (i.e. glochidia detached) in a laboratory experiment. Tämä pro gradu -tutkielma kertoo Seppo Jokivartion tarinan. Seppo soti ensin talvisodassa, sitten jatkosodassa ja osallistui vielä Tornion maihinnousuun. Lapin sodan ensimmäisen taistelupäivän iltana Seppo jäi viiden muun suomalaisen sotilaan kanssa saksalaisten sotavangiksi hieman Torniosta pohjoiseen. Sotavankien kertoman perusteella saksalaiset kohtelivat suomalaisia kuin eläimiä. Osoitan nämä kertomukset uskottaviksi tarkastelemalla saksalaista sotavankijärjestelmää yleisellä tasolla. Ei ole mitään syytä olettaa, että petetyksi ja yllätetyksi tulleet saksalaiset olisivat kohdelleet suomalaisia sotavankeja yhtään sen hellemmin kuin muitakaan järjestelmänsä piiriin joutuneita.
