The role of the Madden-Julian Oscillation ("MJO") on rainfall variability in Sub-Saharan Africa is examined, based on daily rain-gauge records and the NCEP-DOE AMIP-II reanalyses. The convective and dynamical signal associated with the MJO is extracted using two differing methodologies, the BMRC daily indices (Wheeler & Hendon 2004) on the one hand, and a Local Mode Analysis ("LMA", Goulet & Duvel 2000) on the other hand. The temporal variability of the MJO (in terms of period, amplitude, seasonality and location of the convective anomalies) is first analysed. Autor stara się opisać fragmenty biografii autora Origami, skupiając się na charakterystycznych dla poety sposobach dyskretnego mówienia o sobie (dystans narracyjny, rozdźwięk pomiędzy narratorem a bohaterem, ukrywanie zarówno postaci bohatera, jak i rzeczywistych osób pod zasłoną inicjału). The aim of the article is to present the current state of research on the paremiography and paremiology of Cieszyn Silesia. The first part presents and describes collections of proverbs from the region of Cieszyn, from the end of the 19th century to contemporary times. The second one discusses theoretical works (including folkloristic, linguistic, linguistic and cultural ones) dealing with the problems of proverbs from the region of Cieszyn, investigated in yarious contexts and from different research perspectives.

The article offers some introductory considerations on this part of Julian Kornhauser’s poetic oeuvre that comprises the texts with silence in its diverse functions: compositional, theoretical, structural, and thematic. These considerations are based on the category of muteness as found in Martin Heidegger’s late works, that is, in the sigetics project. Additionally, the author endeavours to describe the levels on which researching silence in a poem (and poems’ silence) is justified.
