Mental Health Status of Healthcare Workers During the COVID-19 Outbreak

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic is a massive health crisis that has exerted enormous physical and psychological pressure. Mental healthcare for healthcare workers (HCWs) should receive serious consideration. This study served to determine the mental-health outcomes of 1,556 HCWs from 45 countries who participated in the COVID-19 IMPACT project, and to examine the predictors of the outcomes during the first pandemic wave. Toxicity as prime selection criterion among SARS-active herbal medications

We present here a new selection criterion for prioritizing research on efficacious drugs for the fight against COVID-19: the relative toxicity versus safety of herbal medications, which were effective against SARS in the 2002/2003 epidemic. We rank these medicines according to their toxicity versus safety as basis for preferential rapid research on their potential in the treatment of COVID-19. The data demonstrate that from toxicological information nothing speaks against immediate investigation on, followed by rapid implementation of Lonicera japonica, Morus alba, Forsythia suspensa, and Codonopsis spec. for treatment of COVID-19 patients. Sourcing on the internet: Examining the relations among different phases of online inquiry

This study examined students’ engagement in sourcing throughout online inquiry, that is, when they specified the information need, formulated search queries, evaluated online texts, and composed a written product. Participants were 167 upper secondary school students. Students completed an online inquiry task in a restricted online environment that utilized authentic online texts. Students’ prior topic knowledge and reading fluency was measured and controlled for in the analysis. Offline commissioning of a new gas cell for the MARA Low-Energy Branch

Results of offline commissioning tests for a new dedicated gas cell for the Mass Analysing Recoil Apparatus (MARA) Low-Energy Branch are reported. Evacuation time, ion survival and transport efficiency in helium buffer gas were characterized with a radioactive 223Ra 𝛼-recoil source. Suppression of the ion signal, originating from non-neutralized species in the gas cell, was explored with 219Rn ions, the daughter recoil of 223Ra, as a function of voltage applied to one of the ion-collector electrodes. Two-step laser resonance ionization of stable tin isotopes produced inside the gas cell from a heated bronze filament was demonstrated, and broadening of the atomic resonances in argon buffer …

The first excited state of the nucleus229Th has an exceptionally small excitation energy of7.8 eV, which is expected to be very sensitive to changes in the fine structure constant α.A small difference in the Coulomb energies of the two states, which both are of the order109eV, would amplify variations in α into large variations of the transition frequency.Hartree-Fock and Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations are performed to compute theCoulomb energies of the two states. Geometric rough paths on infinite dimensional spaces

Similar to ordinary differential equations, rough paths and rough differential equations can be formulated in a Banach space setting. For $\alpha\in (1/3,1/2)$, we give criteria for when we can approximate Banach space-valued weakly geometric $\alpha$-rough paths by signatures of curves of bounded variation, given some tuning of the H\"older parameter. We show that these criteria are satisfied for weakly geometric rough paths on Hilbert spaces. As an application, we obtain Wong-Zakai type result for function space valued martingales using the notion of (unbounded) rough drivers.

Tehtiin MD-simulaatiot kultapinnan siltapaikkoihin kahdella eri peitolla (1/3 ja 1/4) yksikerrokseksi asetetuille pitkä- ja lyhytketjuisille S(CH2)xN3-adsorbaateille (x = 2, 11). Kukin systeemi simuloitiin sekä tyhjiössä että vesiympäristössä. Simulaatioista määritettiin atsidiryhmien FFCF:t ja CLS:t odotusaikavälille t2 ∈ [0, 200] ps. Näihin sovitettiin multieksponentiaaliset funktiot ja havaittiin FFCF:n hitaiden komponenttien vastaavan CLS-komponentteja. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin mallia, joka esittää CLS:n ja FFCF:n välille suoraviivaisen yhteyden ja mahdollistaa Lorentzin ja Gaussin leveyksien määrittämisen.
