The Kamchatka peninsula, in the north-western part of the Pacific ’Ring of Fire’, is one of the most active volcanic realms on Earth, with 29 historically erupting volcanoes along its 700 km-long Eastern Volcanic Belt (EVB). This notwithstanding, volatile input and output fluxes along this arc sector have remained poorly characterised until very recently. We here report on the very first assessment of volatile flux emissions from Gorelyi, a large (25 km3, 1830 m high) and most active shield-like Holocene volcano located on the southern segment of the Kamchatka EVB. ‘Strong and courageous’ but ‘constantly insecure’: dialogical self theory, intersecting identities, and Christian mixed martial arts

Being a mixed martial arts fighter and a devout Christian seems to present an apparent contradiction that requires identity work to bring these identities into unity. We used Dialogical Self Theory and explored the autobiography of Ron ‘H2O’ Waterman, a professional fighter turned evangelist, to understand how the tensions between the different identities or I-positions were negotiated. We identified two I-positions, ‘Ron the Fighter’ and ‘Ron the Pater Familias’, which related differently to religion, sport, and masculinity. In this study, we provide new information about the habitats selected by the blood fluke Paradeontacylix kampachi in the greater amberjack Seriola dumerili based on an exhaustive anatomical examination. From May to October 1998, 21 fish of the 0+ age class were collected from tanks of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography in Puerto de Mazarrón, Spain, for parasitological analysis. Individuals of P. kampachi were found in 17 of the 21 fish analysed (mean intensity +/- SD: 13.6 +/- 16.6; median: 6). Worms occurred in the girdles, cephalic kidney, sinus venosus, kidney and branchial arteries. A Friedman test with a post-hoc contrast revealed a significantly higher number of worms in the girdle…
Molecular ND Band Spectroscopy in the Divertor Region of Nitrogen Seeded JET Discharges

In this contribution we present OES measurements in the JET tokamak of the deuterated NH (ND) radical and the correlation between results of those experiments and measurement of ammonia production. The observation region covers most of the divertor and its outer throat. Measurements are performed in different magnetic configurations. The results include temporal and spatial dependence of the molecular emission intensity and study of the emission band shape (vibrational and rotational temperatures) during different JET pulses, with or without nitrogen seeding. Effects of Anandamide and Noxious Heat on Intracellular Calcium Concentration in Nociceptive DRG Neurons of Rats

As an endogenous agonist at the cannabinoid receptor CB1 and the capsaicin-receptor TRPV1, anandamide may exert both anti- and pronociceptive actions. Therefore we studied the effects of anandamide and other activators of both receptors on changes in free cytosolic calcium ([Ca2+]i) in acutely dissociated small dorsal root ganglion neurons (diameter: ≤30 μm). Anandamide (10 μM) increased [Ca2+]iin 76% of the neurons. The EC50was 7.41 μM, the Hill slope was 2.15 ± 0.43 (mean ± SE). This increase was blocked by the competitive TRPV1-antagonist capsazepine (10 μM) and in Ca2+-free extracellular solution. Dzięki zebranym dokumentom i materiałom ustalono najważniejsze fakty z życia generała, dotyczące jego pochodzenia, nauki w Cesarskim Aleksandrowskim Liceum (Lycee Imperial Alexandre) w Petersburgu, udziału w walkach o niepodległość Polski oraz kariery w kawalerii i szkolnictwie wojskowym II RP. Udostępnione przez bliskich księcia materiały, skonfrontowane ze źródłami urzędowymi i dostępnymi publikacjami, pozwoliły także na ustalenie dodatkowych okoliczności związanych z jego śmiercią z rąk NKWD w 1940 roku. Diplomdarbā izpētīti darba samaksas veidi, analizēti ieturējumus no darba algas, izvērtētas darbaspēka nodokļu izmaiņas, salīdzināti darbaspēka nodokļi Baltijas valstīs, izvērtēta algas nodokļu izmaiņu ietekme uz ieņēmumiem, novērtēts darbaspēka nodokļu slogs.
