The European DEMO fusion reactor: Design status and challenges from balance of plant point of view

DEMO initial conceptual design studies are being conducted in Europe as part of the European Union Roadmap to Fusion Electricity, which aims to demonstrate the feasibility of electricity produced by nuclear fusion reactors around the middle of this century. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the DEMO project, highlighting its main characteristics and challenges in terms of design, integration, and operation. Mock-up testing facilities and qualification strategy for EU ITER TBMs

European test blanket modules (TBM) for both European blanket concepts, namely the Helium Cooled Lithium Lead (HCLL) and the Helium Cooled Pebble Bed (HCPB), and their auxiliary systems have been designed in the last years. This paper presents the experimental facilities available in Europe for the qualification tests of European TBMs. In particular, devices designed to analyze specific technological issues, for example corrosion under strong magnetic fields or tritium management and extraction, as well as large scale facility to perform integral tests are described. A preliminary overview on the qualification strategy is presented and discussed.

In this dissertation, I study national campaigns aimed at constructing Estonian national identity in 1934–1940. The campaigns were organized through the cooperation of Konstantin Päts’ authoritarian government and civil society. I focus on the folk art campaign and on the name changing campaign. The name changing campaign was the largest national project in Estonia, aiming at the Estonification of names. Initially, the campaign focused on changing individuals’ surnames and first names, but later also on changing the names of places, streets and properties. Debating Europe: Effects of the “Eurovision Debate” on EU Attitudes of Young German Voters and the Moderating Role Played by Political Involvement

In the run-up to the elections to the European Parliament in 2014, EU citizens had the unprecedented opportunity to watch televised debates between the candidates running for president of the European Commission. The most important debate was the so-called "Eurovision debate", which was broadcasted in almost all EU member states. In this study we explore the responses of a sample of 110 young German voters, who watched this debate, to the candidates' messages and whether exposure to the debate caused a shift in the respondents' attitudes towards the EU. Kameras kontroles programmatūra un Chrome spraudnis sistēmas stāvokļa pārraudzībai un kontrolei

Kvalifikācijas darba mērķis ir izstrādāt programmatūru fotoaparāta Sony QX1, vai citu Sony Remote Camera API izmantojošu kameru attālinātai kontrolei bezvadu tīklā, grafisko vidi nodrošinot ar tīmekļa pārlūka Google Chrome spraudni. Šāds risinājums ļautu nodrošināt programmatūras darbību neatkarīgi no lietotāja izvēlētās personālā datora operētājsistēmas. Sistēma izstrādāta, izmantojot tīmekļa tehnoloģijas un programmēšanas valodu Python. Sistēmas lietotāji var attālināti pārraudzīt kameras uzņemšanas parametrus un veikt attēla uzņemšanu.

Bakalaura darba “Kafijas veikala "Es Mīlu Kafiju" mārketinga aktivitāšu "Laimē 100 Illy kafijas automātus" gadījuma analīze” mērķis ir izpētīt un novērtēt uzņēmuma veiktās mārketinga komunikācijas aktivitātes kampaņas laikā. Teorētisko daļu veido nodaļas par sociālajiem medijiem un mārketinga komunikāciju, mārketinga kampaņām. Metodoloģiskajā daļā apskatītas pētījumā izmantotās metodes – kontentanalīze, daļēji strukturēta intervija un anketēšana. Empīriskajā daļā tiek veikta uzņēmuma “Es mīlu kafiju” sociālo mediju Facebook un Instagram ierakstu kontentanalīze, kā arī intervija ar uzņēmuma pārstāvi un mērķauditorijas anketēšana. Farmaceitisko vielu plūsmas izpēte Latvijā un to potenciālā ietekme uz vidi

Medikamentu pieprasījums un lietošanas apjoms palielinās ik gadu, pieaugot populācijai, dzīves līmenim un ekonomikai, īpaši jaunattīstības valstīs, kur biežāk arī ir novērota mazāk attīstīta atkritumu saimniekošana, tai skaitā medikamentu. Medikamenti ir mikro piesārņotāji, kas nonākot vidē spēj radīt manāmas sekas. Bakalaura darba mērķis bija apskatīt medikamentu nonākšanas veidus un sekas vidē, kā arī uzzināt Latvijas patērētāju paradumus un attieksmi pret nederīgu medikamentu pareizu atbrīvošanos. Iegūtie dati liecina, ka lielākajai daļai respondentu mājsaimniecībās atrodas neizlietoti, nederīgi medikamenti un visbiežāk no tiem izvēlas atbrīvoties izmantojot sadzīves atkritumus.

This paper reports measurements of final-state proton multiplicity, muon and proton kinematics, and their correlations in charged-current pionless neutrino interactions, measured by the T2K ND280 near detector in its plastic scintillator (C$_8$H$_8$) target. The data were taken between years 2010 and 2013, corresponding to approximately 6$\times10^{20}$ protons on target. Thanks to their exploration of the proton kinematics and of kinematic imbalances between the proton and muon kinematics, the results offer a novel probe of the nuclear-medium effects most pertinent to the (sub-)GeV neutrino-nucleus interactions that are used in accelerator-based long-baseline neutrino oscillation measureme…
