The DEPFET pixel detector for the Belle II experiment at Super KEKB
2014
A pixel detector built with the DEPFET technology will be used for the two innermost layers of the Belle II experiment at the e + e SuperKEKB collider at KEK. The physics goals of the experiment impose challenging requirements to the design of the pixel detector in terms of performance, material budget and power consumption. The DEPFET technology has proven to be a suitable solution for the Belle II requirements and has been chosen as the baseline for the detector. This paper reviews the DEPFET pixel detector for Belle II and the various system aspects that have driven its final design.
Open charm hadroproduction and the charm content of the proton
2009
We advocate charmed-hadron inclusive hadroproduction as a laboratory to probe intrinsic charm (IC) inside the colliding hadrons. Working at next-to-leading order in the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme endowed with non-perturbative fragmentation functions recently extracted from a global fit to e^+e^- annihilation data from KEKB, CESR, and LEP1, we first assess the sensitivity of Tevatron data of D^0, D^+, and D^{*+} inclusive production to the IC parameterizations provided by Pumplin et al. We then argue that similar data from pp collisions at RHIC would have the potential to discriminate between different IC models provided they reach out to sufficiently large values of transver…
Semileptonic decaysΛc+→Λℓ+νℓ(ℓ=e,μ)in the covariant quark model and comparison with the new absolute branching fraction measurements of Belle and BES…
2016
We present precise theoretical predictions for the absolute branching fractions of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}(\ensuremath{\ell}=e,\ensuremath{\mu})$ decays in the covariant confined quark model. This study is motivated by two recent and accurate measurements of the absolute branching fractions of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ by the Belle Collaboration at the KE…
Measurement of Time-DependentCP-Violating Asymmetries inB0→ϕKS0,K+K−KS0, andη′KS0Decays
2004
We present an improved measurement of $CP$-violation parameters in ${B}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}{K}_{S}^{0}$, ${K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{K}_{S}^{0}$, and ${\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}{K}_{S}^{0}$ decays based on a $140\text{ }{\mathrm{f}\mathrm{b}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ data sample collected at the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. One neutral $B$ meson is fully reconstructed in one of the specified decay channels, and the flavor of the accompanying $B$ meson is identified from its decay products. $CP$-violation parameters for each of the three modes are obtained from…
First Observation ofCPViolation inB¯0→DCP(*)h0Decays by a Combined Time-Dependent Analysis ofBABARand Belle Data
2015
We report a measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry of B0->D(*)CP h0 decays, where the light neutral hadron h0 is a pi0, eta or omega meson, and the neutral D meson is reconstructed in the CP eigenstates K+ K-, K0S pi0 or K0S omega. The measurement is performed combining the final data samples collected at the Y(4S) resonance by the BaBar and Belle experiments at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. The data samples contain ( 471 +/- 3 ) x 10^6 BB pairs recorded by the BaBar detector and ( 772 +/- 11 ) x 10^6, BB pairs recorded by the Belle detector. We measure the CP asymmetry parameters -eta_f S = +0.66 +/- 0.10 (stat.) +/- 0.06 (syst.) an…
Heavy Hadrons – Exotic and Conventional Quarkonium Physics at Belle II
2020
Abstract The Belle II experiment, now operating at the KEK laboratory in Japan, is a substantial upgrade of both the Belle detector and the KEKB e + e − accelerator. It aims to collect 50 times more data than existing B-Factory samples. Belle II is uniquely capable to study Charmonium and Bottomonium states and search for heavy exotic hadrons consisting of more than three quarks.
First Evidence for cos2β>0 and Resolution of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa Quark-Mixing Unitarity Triangle Ambiguity
2018
We present first evidence that the cosine of the CP-violating weak phase 2β is positive, and hence exclude trigonometric multifold solutions of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) Unitarity Triangle using a time-dependent Dalitz plot analysis of B^{0}→D^{(*)}h^{0} with D→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} decays, where h^{0}∈{π^{0},η,ω} denotes a light unflavored and neutral hadron. The measurement is performed combining the final data sets of the BABAR and Belle experiments collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. The data samples contain (471±3)×10^{6}BB[over ¯] pairs recorded by the BABAR detector and (772±11)×10^{6}BB[over ¯] p…
