Regulatory frameworks on intra-EU mobility and flexible cross-border employment relations have stimulated competition on labour costs by recruiting migrants via cheaper labour market regimes. While it allows firms to remunerate migrants under different terms and conditions, blurring regulatory boundaries also generates opportunities for non-compliance, resulting in violations of migrant labour rights across Europe. Against this background, this thesis explores the agency of labour, more specifically of temporary migrant workers and unions, and the ways they cope with and respond to the competitive dynamics of the pan- European labour market. The prevalence of myopia has markedly increased in East and Southeast Asia, and pathologic consequences of myopia, including myopic maculopathy and high myopia-associated optic neuropathy, are now some of the most common causes of irreversible blindness. Hence, strategies are warranted to reduce the prevalence of myopia and the progression to high myopia because this is the main modifiable risk factor for pathologic myopia. The first research question is about how three different textbooks for grade 10 presents the Pythagorean theorem through different representations. These representations are geometric, algebraic and textual. The textbooks are Tetra, Faktor and Maximum. The precision of individual representations and the precision between representations is studied. The chronology in the presentation of the representations has also been studied. Pro gradu –tutkielmani tutkimuskohteena ovat unipäiväkirjan kirjoittaminen ja siihen liittyvät narraatiot. Tässä tutkimuksessa narratiivisuudella tarkoitetaan lähestymistapaa, joka kohdistaa huomion kertomuksiin tiedon välittäjänä ja rakentajana. Tutkin unista kirjoittamista, unipäiväkirjan kirjoittamisen tarinankerrontaa, muotoa, rutiineja ja sääntöjä. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, miten narratiivisuus tulee esille unipäiväkirjan tarinoissa ja kerronnassa. Tarkastelen unipäiväkirjoja tarinallisuuden, tapahtumien ja identiteetin näkökulmasta. Sisäisen tarinan määrittelemässä identiteetissä voidaan erottaa useita tasoja. Unen laatu heikkenee vaihdevuosien aikana. Heikentynyt unen laatu on yhteydessä sokeri- ja rasva-aineenvaihdunnan häiriöihin. Tämän pro gradu-tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää vaihdevuosi-ikäisten naisten unen laadun yhteyttä kardiometabolisiin riskitekijöihin. Tutkielma perustuu Estrogeeni, vaihdevuodet ja toimintakyky (ERMA) -tutkimuksen aineistoon. Osallistujat poimittiin satunnaisotannalla väestörekisteristä Jyväskylän ja sen lähikuntien 47–54 -vuotiaista naisista (n=6886).
