Artikkelikokoelma yhdistää samaan teokseen vaivaisukkoihin liittyvää tutkimusta eri tieteenaloilta. Se on syntynyt kesällä 2013 järjestetyn Vaivaisukot Kerimäellä -näyttelyn tuloksena. Kirja lähestyy aihettaan tuoreista näkökulmista. Artikkelikokoelma korostaa vaivaisukkojen ainutlaatuisuutta kulttuurituotteina ja osoittaa, kuinka monipuolisesti niitä on mahdollista tutkia. Vaivaisukkojen paluu on erinomainen tietokirja, joka soveltuu hyvin monentyyppisten lukijoiden käyttöön. A systematic review of functional numeracy measures for 9–12 -year-olds: Validity and reliability evidence

This systematic review aimed to summarize the characteristics and the measurement properties of functional numeracy measures developed for use by teachers among 9–12-year-old children with or without mathematical learning difficulties. A systematic search from five databases was conducted based on pre-defined criteria. PRISMA guidelines were followed for reporting the results. The terminology and classification of measurement properties adopted by the COSMIN taxonomy was used. Twenty-one studies of 18 measures met the inclusion criteria. Jyväskylän kansakoulunopettajaseminaarin kirjaston kokoelmien muodostuminen 1863-1905

Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan Jyväskylän kansakoulunopettajaseminaarin kirjaston kokoelmien muodostumista perustamisvuodesta 1863 vuoteen 1905. Jyväskylän seminaari oli ensimmäinen suomenkielinen opettajia kouluttava laitos. Aiempaa tutkimusta seminaarin kirjastosta on tehty jonkin verran, muttei näin laajasti. Tutkimuksen päätutkimuskysymys on, kuinka kokoelmat karttuivat 1863–1905. Lisäksi selvitetään, vaikuttiko 1800-luvulla syntynyt suomalaiskansallinen aate kokoelmiin, kuinka vallankäyttö ja sensuuri näkyivät seminaarin kirjastossa sekä ketkä olivat niitä henkilöitä, jotka tekivät päätöksiä kokoelmien suhteen. ‘A Storm Might Be Brewing:’ The Lutheran Church and Secular Authority in Finland, 1944–1948

Although Finland, a Nazi-ally, was among the defeated, the country was not invaded after the war, and the governmental system did not change from parliamentary democracy to people’s democracy. This does not, however, mean that the war-to-peace transition in Finland was lacking drama. The years from 1944 to 1948 were marked by a series of ‘crises of peace’ so turbulent that the term ‘the war-after-the-war’ is warranted. Also for the Lutheran church in Finland the period was in many ways traumatic.
