The discussion article by Ekberg and Jes Iversen in this number of the Scandinavian Economic History Review raises a number of important questions on the present state of business history research in the Nordic countries. To a certain extent, these concerns are generalisable to the wider economic history community in the Nordic countries, especially as regards the lack of relevant teaching and challenges in recruitment. Ekberg and Iversen suggest that a possible solution might be to intensify Nordic collaboration. Uusi artikkelikokoelma käy läpi perheitä, perhesuhteita ja perheensisäisiä tunnesiteitä eri historiallisissa konteksteissa ja yhteiskuntaryhmissä. Teos nostaa esiin erityisesti perheen moninaisuutta ja muuttuvuutta. Maģistra darbs analizē pašreizējo Krievijas Federācijas un Ķīnas Tautas Republikas padziļināto interesi Centrālāzijas reģionā. Pēdējos gados no Ķīnas puses ir pieaugusi interese šo reģionu ekonomiski attīstīt, izveidojot jaunu “Viena cela, vienas jostas” iniciatīvu, taču lai to realizētu, Ķīnai ir jāņem vērā arī Krievijas intereses reģionā. Maģistra darbs analizē šo divu lielvaru cīņu par ietekmi reģionā.

The interest in computer-assisted interventions to promote literacy has increased over the years. In this study, we developed the Portuguese version of the GraphoGame Fluent and tested its effects on reading, spelling, and phonological awareness. Second graders struggling to read were randomly assigned to two groups: GraphoGame Fluent group (n = 15), which received a computer-assisted remedial reading intervention, or GraphoGame Math group (n = 15), which received a computer-assisted numeracy intervention. Anorektinen teksti : anoreksian esittämiskeinot Kira Poutasen romaanissa Ihana meri

Käsittelen tutkimuksessani Kira Poutasen romaania Ihanaa merta (2001) anoreksian kuvaajana. Hypoteesini on, että Ihanassa meressä sekä sisältö että tekstinrakenne esittävät anoreksiaa. Tästä ajatuksesta on lähtöisin myös työn nimi ”anorektinen teksti”. Kun teksti esittää anoreksiaa, se muuttuu sen kaltaiseksi – siitä on siis löydettävissä anoreksian käyttäytymismalleja. Tällainen anorektinen käyttäytymismalli on esimerkiksi pyrkimys niukkuuteen, joka anorektisessa käytöksessä tulee esiin syömisen vähentämisenä ja laihtumisen maksimoimisena. Variability in δ13C values between individual Daphnia ephippia: Implications for palaeo-studies

The stable carbon isotope ratio (δ13C value) of Daphnia spp. resting egg shells (ephippia) provides information on past changes in Daphnia diet. Measurements are typically performed on samples of ≥20 ephippia, which obscures the range of values associated with individual ephippia. Using a recently developed laser ablation-based technique, we perform multiple δ13C analyses on individual ephippia, which show a high degree of reproducibility (standard deviations 0.1–0.5‰). We further measured δ13C values of 13 ephippia from surface sediments of three Swiss lakes.
