In the last decades, the study of convergence of fixed point iterative methods has received an increasing attention, due to their performance as tools for solving numerical problems. As a consequence of this fact, one can access to a wide literature on iterative schemes involving different types of operators; see [2, 4, 5]. We point out that fixed point iterative approximation methods have been largely applied in dealing with stability and convergence problems; see [1, 6]. Schaefer–Krasnoselskii fixed point theorems using a usual measure of weak noncompactness

Abstract We present some extension of a well-known fixed point theorem due to Burton and Kirk [T.A. Burton, C. Kirk, A fixed point theorem of Krasnoselskii–Schaefer type, Math. Nachr. 189 (1998) 423–431] for the sum of two nonlinear operators one of them compact and the other one a strict contraction. The novelty of our results is that the involved operators need not to be weakly continuous. Finally, an example is given to illustrate our results.
Important role of Nfkb2 in the KrasG12D-driven carcinogenesis in the pancreas

Abstract Background Oncogenic Kras initiates and drives carcinogenesis in the pancreas by complex signaling networks, including activation of the NFκB pathway. Although recent evidence has shown that oncogenic gains in Nfκb2 collaborate with Kras in the carcinogenesis, no data at the level of genetics for the contribution of Nfκb2 is available so far. Methods We used Nfkb2 knock-out mice to decipher the role of the gene in Kras-driven carcinogenesis in vivo. Results We show that the Nfkb2 gene is needed for cancer initiation and progression in KrasG12D-driven models and this requirement of Nfkb2 is mechanistically connected to proliferative pathways. Bakalaura darbā “Krasta erozijas mazināšana Eimura kanāla grīvā Garciemā” tiek aprakstīts esošais Rīgas līča krasta stāvoklis pie Eimura kanāla. Bakalaura darbā apskatīta un analizēta literatūra saistībā ar mūsdienu krasta procesiem un morfoloģiju krasta zonā pie Garciema. Tiek iekļauta informācija par tur esošajiem īpaši aizsargājamiem piekrastes biotopiem un piemērotākajiem risinājumiem krasta erozijas mazināšanai. Darbā analizētas krasta nogāzes šķērsprofilos uzmērītās reljefa izmaiņas, kā arī analizēta vēsturiskā kartogrāfiskā informācija par Rīgas līča ūdenslīnijas un kanāla grīvas pārvietošanos laika gaitā.

Background and aims Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common primary liver cancer and a highly lethal malignancy. Chemotherapeutic options are limited, but a considerable subset of patients harbors genetic lesions for which targeted agents exist. Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) fusions belong to the most frequent and therapeutically relevant alterations in ICC, and the first FGFR inhibitor was recently approved for the treatment of patients with progressed, fusion-positive ICC. Meteoroloģisko novērojumu staciju dati Kurzemes Baltijas jūras piekrastē rāda, ka gada siltajā periodā (marts – oktobris) diennakts siltajā laikā vēja ātruma sadalījumam ir maksimumi, kas atbilst krastam paralēliem vējiem gan no ziemeļu, gan dienvidu virziena. 2013. gada 3. un 6. maijs tika izvēlēti tālākai analīzei. Tika veikta matemātiskā modelēšana izmantojot WRF (Weather Research and Forecast) modeli, kā arī novērojumu analīze, iekļaujot ASCAT attālinātās izpētes vēja ātruma un virziena mērījumus no satelīta. Genomic characterization of undifferentiated sarcomatoid carcinoma of the pancreas

Undifferentiated sarcomatoid carcinoma (USC) of the pancreas is a rare but especially aggressive variant of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), composed of at least 80% of sarcomatoid cells. This study aimed to elucidate its clinicopathological and molecular features. The study cohort included 10 patients with pancreatic USC. Clinicopathological parameters were determined for each patient. The molecular profile was investigated using next-generation sequencing (NGS). Histologically, all tumors were hypercellular neoplasms with spindle-shaped or sarcomatoid cells. All patients showed vascular and perineural invasion. Most patients had a poor prognosis.
