AbstractThis chapter investigates the close relationship between the list form and experimental writing, and the poetic and literary usage of the form in the ideologically countercultural experimental setting of the 1960s. The focus is on Finnish literature of the decade and texts that utilize the culinary forms of recipe and menu, both of which are essentially based on listing. The texts examined, thus, combine two traditions: the history of food listings in literature, and the fondness for the list form in experimental and avant-garde traditions. This study examines bridge employment decision-making from a self-employment perspective using 3 prominent retirement theories, the life course perspective, continuity theory and role theory. Focusing on self-employment extends the current theoretical understanding of bridge employment and offers interesting implications for retirement policy-making. Specifically, using longitudinal data from the Health and Retirement Study (n = 2,080), we conducted multinomial regression analysis to examine who were more/less likely to fully retire, enter bridge employment in the wage-and-salary form, or enter bridge employment in the self-employment form. Work-loss years among people diagnosed with diabetes : a reappraisal from a life course perspective

Aims Early exit from the workforce has been proposed to be one of the unfavorable consequences of diabetes. We examined whether early exit from the workforce differed between persons who were and were not diagnosed with diabetes during their work career. Methods The cohort included 12,726 individuals of the Helsinki Birth Cohort Study, born between 1934 and 1944. Using data from nationwide registers, the cohort was followed up from early adulthood until they transitioned into retirement or died. Elinajan piteneminen ja syntyvyyden lasku viimeisten vuosikymmenten aikana ovat nostaneet esille kysymyksiä julkisen eläkejärjestelmän kestävyydestä tulevaisuudessa. Tutkielmassa arvioidaan sekä vuoden 2017 eläkeuudistuksen vaikutuksia että elinajan pitenemisen ja näiden varautumiskeinojen vaikutuksia eläkkeelle siirtymiseen. Elinajan pitenemiseen on varauduttu eri keinoin niin Suomessa kuin muualla Euroopassa. Esimerkiksi vanhuuseläkeikää korotetaan ja eläkkeiden tasoa pienennetään, joko automaattisesti tai väliajoin yksittäisenä muutoksena. Yhteistä menetelmillä on niiden perustuminen elinajanodotteeseen. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoitus on selvittää, mitkä tekijät selittävät eläkeiän nostohalukkuutta. Eläkeiän nosto on nähty monissa aiemmissa tutkimuksissa välttämättömäksi keinoksi vastata väestön ikääntymisen mukanaan tuomiin haasteisiin. Keskeisimpiä käsitteitä tutkimuksessani ovat eläkeikä, eläkejärjestelmät ja eläkeregiimiteoria. Käyn läpi, miten väestön ikääntyminen ja huoltosuhteen kasvu ovat nostaneet tarpeen päivittää sosiaaliturvaa ja eläkejärjestelmiä. Tarkastelen myös, mitä meneillään oleva yhteiskuntien ikääntymiskehitys tarkoittaa sukupolvisopimuksen näkökulmasta. Masters of their own time? Working carers’s visions about combining retirement and caring

How do working careers anticipate the timing of retirement and the weight of care commitments related to other activities when retired? This question is discussed by analysing the experiences of Finnish working careers. Most of the interviewees indicated that helping parent(s) would be part of their own retirement, but after leaving full-time work they would also like to devote time for their other personal interests, too.
