Studies on atomic layer deposition of IRMOF-8 thin films

Deposition of IRMOF-8 thin films by atomic layer deposition was studied at 260–320 C. Zinc acetate and 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid were used as the precursors. The as-deposited amorphous films were crystallized in 70% relative humidity at room temperature resulting in an unknown phase with a large unit cell. An autoclave with dimethylformamide as the solvent was used to recrystallize the films into IRMOF-8 as confirmed by grazing incidence x-ray diffraction. Hetkia elaman virrasta. Kerronnallinen ja kokemuksellinen aika Joki -elokuvassa Jarmo Lampelan elokuvassa Joki (Suomi 2001) kerrotaan kuusi samanaikaista, toisiaan sivuavaa tarinaa, joissa joukko pikkukaupungin ihmisia joutuu valintojen eteen tai kohtaamaan elaman mullistavia asioita. Eri-ikaisten henkilohahmojensa kautta Joki piirtaa esiin koko elamankaaren. Artikkelissa Jokea tarkastellaan ajan nakokulmasta kiinnittamalla huomiota ajan eri tasoihin ja ulottuvuuksiin. Aikaa tarkastellaan yhtaalta osana elokuvan muotoa ja toisaalta katsojan ja elokuvan valisessa kohtaamisessa syntyvana ilmiona. Discussing two short stories by contemporary Scottish author Ali Smith, my article recommends a close reading of short prose narratives as potential examples of ungendered character-narration. I combine queer and unnatural narrative theory to consider how forms of telling contribute to gender ambiguity. Further, I advocate interpretative strategies that resist naturalization and causal explanations. Instead, a queer reading of Smith’s “erosive” (2003) and “The beholder” (2015) delights in their ambiguity, waywardness, and narrative inventiveness. Tutkielma käsittelee Ali Smithin (s. 1962) romaania The Accidental (2005, suomennettu 2006 nimellä Satunnainen) salaisuuksien ja etiikan näkökulmasta. Luenta kiertyy teoksen viiden päähenkilön ympärille. Erityistä huomiota kohdistetaan Amberiin, salaperäiseen vieraaseen, joka poikkeaa täysin muista teoksen henkilöhahmoista. The exceptional quality of digital fictions lies in their inherently dynamic nature, how they may be flexibly programmed to generate new content and alter the already existing contents. This adds a new temporal level, compared to traditional fictions. Digital games, especially, incorporate aspects of simulation and narration in their structure. As interactive and dynamic media form, games are specifically temporal in nature. This study explores the writings of Sylvia Plath Forum, a discussion forum in the Internet that was launched in 1998. Using Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis, Chaïm Perelman’s theory of argumentation, Kenneth Burke’s idea of identification as the basis of rhetoric, and René Girards’s theory of mimetic desire as its framework this study looks into the forum’s meaning-making processes and the ways the author Sylvia Plath (1932-1963) and her readers are represented on the forum.
