Luminescent perovskites: From materials to light-emitting devices
2019
The thesis describes the preparation of efficient and simple bright halide perovskite materials and light-emitting devices. In the different chapters, several perovskite types are described and studied: Perovskites with different crystal sizes, from nanosized perovskites (Chapter 2, 3 and 4) to bulk perovskites (Chapter 5) all with a 3D crystal structure; and perovskites with different crystal structure dimensionalities, such as 3D or nanoplatelets with 2D (Chapter 3) and even quasi-2D structures (Chapter 2). Photoluminescence and electroluminescence with colours ranging from red to green and blue are reported. Chapter 2 focuses on obtaining stable and very PL efficient red-emitting hybrid …
Delamination and recycling of Archaean crust caused by gravitational instabilities
2013
The volume of Archaean crust preserved at Earth’s surface today is low. Thermodynamic calculations and geodynamic modelling show that the thick, primary crust that would have formed on a much hotter Archaean Earth was denser than the underlying mantle, and would have therefore been recycled back into the mantle as drips.
Digital collaboration in the wood-based construction industry: deployment of Building Information Modeling
2014
Doctoral dissertation, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Agder, Kristiansand 2014 Building Information Modeling (BIM) is intended to promote efficiency in building design and serves as a design space where multiple actors engage in collaborative work. BIM is both a new technology and a new way of working, providing a common environment for all information defining a building, facility, or asset, together with its common parts and activities (Pittard, 2013). This thesis explores the deployment of BIM technology in the Norwegian wood-based building industry and contributes to understanding how BIM can be applied to improve collaborative work in this sector. The dissertation is interdi…
A solar photothermo-catalytic combined process for the VOCs combustion and the subsequent CO2 valorization using noble metal-free catalysts
2023
We here investigated a solar photothermo-catalytic combined process where the toluene (as volatile organic compound model) was first oxidized to CO2 which was subsequently converted into solar fuels in a second reactor. For this aim two noble-metal free catalytic systems were used, namely MnOx-ZrO2, which gave the best results for the toluene removal, and brookite TiO2-CeO2 mixed oxides which were the most efficient in the subsequent CO2 conversion. This latter reaction was further improved by the addition of small amounts of copper-based materials on brookite-ceria, acting as co-catalysts. The key point for both the examined reactions was the synergism between the thermocatalytic and the p…
Structural and magnetic properties of the solid solution series Sr2Fe1–xMxReO6(M = Cr, Zn)
2005
Strong correlations between the electronic, structural and magnetic properties have been found during the study of doped double perovskites Sr2Fe1−xMxReO6 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1, M = Zn, Cr). The interplay between the van Hove singularity and the Fermi level plays a crucial role for the magnetic properties. Cr doping of the parent compound Sr2FeReO6 leads to a non-monotonic behaviour of the saturation magnetization and an enhancement for doping levels up to 10%. The Curie temperatures monotonically increase from 401 to 616 K. In contrast, Zn doping leads to a continuous decrease in the saturation magnetization and the Curie temperatures. Superimposed on the electronic effects is the structural influenc…
The Source Value of Arabic Typikon-Manuscripts as Testimonials for the Byzantinization of the Melkites
2021
With the expansion of Islam, the patriarchates of Antioch, Jerusalem, and Alexandria were divided from the Byzantine Empire. The Orthodox Christians there still defined themselves as Byzantine Orthodox and began to adapt their liturgical customs by adopting Byzantine liturgical books. When Greek was not understood any longer, they began to translate and copy their liturgical books, thereby creating their own branch of tradition, which is marked by multilingualism, reception of their own Bible tradition as well as the exclusion of “neo-martyrs” from their calendar of saints.
Henri Lefebvre’s lessons from the Bauhaus
2021
Throughout his writings, Henri Lefebvre made sporadic observations on the German art, design, and architecture school Bauhaus. His commentary on the Bauhaus can be read in light of his wider criticism of Modernist architecture and its political project. Despite its revolutionary aspirations, the Bauhaus provided ‘the architectural requirements of state capitalism’. This article argues that looking at Lefebvre’s ambiguous reading of the Bauhaus unveils the more complex trajectory of his thinking on Modernist utopian impulses to change society through design. Alongside his criticism of the Bauhaus as tailor made for what Lefebvre calls the neocapitalist state, his work also includes more posi…
Long-term effects of the home literacy environment on reading development: Familial risk for dyslexia as a moderator.
2021
This study aimed to gain better understanding of the associations between literacy activities at home and long-term language and literacy development. We extended the home literacy environment (HLE) model of Sénéchal and LeFevre (Child Development [2002], Vol. 73, pp. 445–460) by including repeated assessments of shared reading, oral language, and reading comprehension development, including examination of familial risk for dyslexia as a moderator, and following development over time from ages 2 to 15 years. Of the 198 Finnish participants, 106 have familial risk for dyslexia due to parental dyslexia. Our path models include development in vocabulary (2–5.5 years), emerging literacy (5.5 ye…
Zero-Dimensional Hybrid Organic−Inorganic Lead Halides and Their Post-Synthesis Reversible Transformation into Three-Dimensional Perovskites
2021
Zero-dimensional (0D) mixed-halide hybrid organic-inorganic MA4PbX6·2H2O (MA = CH3NH3+; X = Br1 - xIx with 0 < x < 1) has been synthesized by a solvent-free mechanochemical approach. It has been shown that this 0D phase with sharp absorption features in the near-UV is a hydrated structure, which can be reversibly transformed into the three-dimensional perovskite phase MAPbX3 by simple thermal annealing (dehydration) in air. This work reveals a new approach to hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites and related 0D structures, which have so far only been thoroughly studied for the inorganic Cs4PbX6 compounds. Interfacial Modification for High-Efficiency Vapor-Phase-Deposited Perovskite Solar Cells Based on a Metal Oxide Buffer Layer.
2018
Vacuum deposition is one of the most technologically relevant techniques for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells. The most efficient vacuum-based devices rely on doped organic contacts, compromising the long-term stability of the system. Here, we introduce an inorganic electron-transporting material to obtain power conversion efficiencies matching the best performing vacuum-deposited devices, with open-circuit potential close to the thermodynamic limit. We analyze the leakage current reduction and the interfacial recombination improvement upon use of a thin (<10 nm) interlayer of C60, as well as a more favorable band alignment after a bias/ultraviolet light activation process. This wo…
