This article assesses the official music scene in Pyongyang over a span of five dramatic years, surveying how changes in the field of music from 2009 to 2014 mirrored and in some cases presaged North Korean dynastic succession and political consolidation. The article draws upon a new abundance of performance data on North Korean musical groups, data which we argue is important but has largely been ignored or mischaracterized heretofore. The central crisis dealt with in the article is the decline and demise of Kim Jong-il, the architect of North Korea’s musical culture. Lactobacillus aquaticus sp. nov., isolated from a Korean freshwater pond.

A Lactobacillus strain, IMCC1736T, was isolated recently from a Korean freshwater pond following an extensive study of the microbial community in this ecosystem. Its 16S rRNA gene was sequenced and phylogenetic analysis placed this strain within the Lactobacillus salivarius group, closely related to Lactobacillus satsumensis NRIC 0604T, with 97.9% sequence similarity. In the present work, the taxonomic status of strain IMCC1736T has been re-evaluated. Taenia asiatica: the Most Neglected Human Taenia and the Possibility of Cysticercosis

Not only Taenia solium and Taenia saginata, but also Taenia asiatica infects humans. The last species is not included in the evaluation of the specificity of the immunodiagnostic techniques for taeniasis/cysticercosis. There is currently no specific immunodiagnostic method for T. asiatica available. Therefore, due to the fact that molecular techniques (the only tool to distinguish the 3 Taenia species) are normally not employed in routine diagnostic methods, the 2 questions concerning T. asiatica (its definite geographic distribution and its ability to cause human cysticercosis), remain open, turning T. asiatica into the most neglected agent of human taeniasis-cysticercosis.
Statistical analysis of a survey about diffusion of binge drinking and drunkorexia among students in Palermo

Youth alcohol consumption is a major global public health concern. Previous reviews have concluded that exposure to alcohol marketing was associated with drinking initiation and higher alcohol consumption among youth. From January to May 2017, a survey has been conducted through administration of questionnaires about the diffusion of Binge Drinking and Drunkorexia among the students of Palermo. Test was administered, during school time, to 2331 students between the ages of 13 and 20. Dzīves līmenis ir viens no svarīgākajiem faktoriem sabiedrības attīstībai. Lai veiktu kvalitatīvu dzīves līmeņa analīzi un izvēlētos atbilstošus rādītājus, nepieciešams izprast katra reģiona īpatnības. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir veikt iedzīvotāju dzīves līmeņa analīzi Latvijā, pamatojoties uz statistikas datiem no 2004. līdz 2013. gadam, kā arī analizēt pašreizējo dzīves līmeni ES valstu kontekstā, izmantojot klasteru analīzi. Pētījuma ietvaros tika veikta klasteru analīze, lai noskaidrotu valstu sadalīju dažādos klasteros pēc izvēlētajiem rādītājiem. VAR modeļu un kointegrācijas analīzes pielietojums zelta cenas analīzē

Darbs tiek veltīts kointegrācijai un kļūdas korekcijas modelim. Darbā dots ieskats par vienības saknes testiem, vektoru autoregresijas vienādojumiem, kointegrāciju, kļūdu korekciju modeļiem. Metodes tika pielietotas pētot sakarības starp tādiem valūtu pāriem kā zelts pret ASV dolāru (XAU/USD) un Šveices franks pret ASV dolāru (CHF/USD). Ar Engla-Greinžera un Johansena metodēm parādīts, ka periodā no 2011. gada maija līdz 2016. gada decembrim pastāv kointegrācija starp iepriekš minētajiem instrumentiem.

In this paper we analyse the scientific contributions of the New York Fed economist Arthur I. Bloomfield. A Canadian born economist, in 1941 Bloomfield took his PhD in economics at the University of Chicago, under the supervision of Jacob Viner and then joined the staff of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as a Research Economist and stayed there until 1958. In this position, Bloomfield combined scholarly research on recent economic history and international financial and banking problems with active service as a member of various committees and commissions, both in the United States and abroad.
