Tensor tomography in periodic slabs
2018
Abstract The X-ray transform on the periodic slab [ 0 , 1 ] × T n , n ≥ 0 , has a non-trivial kernel due to the symmetry of the manifold and presence of trapped geodesics. For tensor fields gauge freedom increases the kernel further, and the X-ray transform is not solenoidally injective unless n = 0 . We characterize the kernel of the geodesic X-ray transform for L 2 -regular m -tensors for any m ≥ 0 . The characterization extends to more general manifolds, twisted slabs, including the Mobius strip as the simplest example.
Automated system for data acquisition and monitoring
2017
The Environmental management has become, with the development of human society a very important issue. There have been multiple systems that automatically monitors the environment. In this paper we propose a system that integrates GIS software and data acquisition software. In addition the proposed system implements new AHP multicriteria method that can get an answer online on each pollutant influence on limited geographical area in which the monitors. Factors pollutants of limited geographical areas are taken automatically by specific sensors through acquisition board. Labview software, with virtual instrument created by transferring them into a database Access. Access database they are ta…
Who are the typical commuters in the post-socialist metropolis? The case of Riga, Latvia
2012
Abstract There have been important changes in the geographical mobility of the populations of post-socialist countries since the 1990s. Drawing on an extensive sample survey—the Geographic Mobility of the Labour Force survey conducted by the University of Latvia in 2006—this paper, examines the demographic and socio-economic differences between commuters and stayers in the suburbs, as well as commuting time. The results of the study indicate that people who have suburbanised over the past decade are much more likely to commute than stayers. We show that commuters to Riga differ from non-commuters with regard to most demographic and socio-economic variables. For instance, the probability of …
Commuting and local labour market areas in the Region of Valencia, Spain, 1991-2001
2007
This article deals with the evolution of commuting in the Region of Valencia, Spain, between 1991 and 200…
Determining Soil Hydraulic Properties Using Infiltrometer Techniques: An Assessment of Temporal Variability in a Long-Term Experiment under Minimum- …
2020
Conservation agriculture is increasingly accepted by farmers, but the modeling studies on agro-environmental processes that characterize these agricultural systems require accurate information on the temporal variability of the soil&rsquo
A new species of Centaurea (Asteraceae) from Calabria(S Italy)
2013
A new species is described here from the Presila in Calabria (S Italy) and named Centaurea calabra. It belongs to Centaurea sect. Phalolepis and is related to the C. deusta group, namely to C. sarfattiana. Taxonomical characteristics, distribution, and ecology of the new Centaurea are also provided.
MISTERI BURUNG BERACUN (Pitohui dicrous) DARI PEGUNUNGAN ARFAK, MANOKWARI.
2008

An observation was carried out to reveal the mystery of the poison bird Pitohui dichrous from the Arfak Mountains. According to the Arfak tribe, the poison came from plants (Amorphalus galbra and Alocasia flabellifera) and not from the beetle such as in PNG. Therefore, a furthur study was needed to reveal the poison of Pitohui dicrous from the Arfak mountains.

New geo-portal for MODIS/SEVIRI image products with geolocation-based retrieval functionality
2015
A large number of remote sensing data sets have been collected in recent years by Earth observation instruments such as the moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Terra/Aqua satellite and the spinning enhanced visible and infrared imager (SEVIRI) aboard the geostationary platform Meteosat Second Generation. The advanced remote sensing products resulting from the analysis of these data are useful in a wide variety of appli- cations but require significant resources in terms of storage, retrieval, and analysis. Despite the wide availability of these MODIS/SEVIRI products, the data coming from these instruments are spread among different locations and retrieved from d…
Ecotoxicity assessment of boreal lake sediments affected by metal mining: Sediment quality triad approach complemented with metal bioavailability and…
2019
Highlights • Ecological risk assessment of metal-contaminated boreal lakes and sediments. • Sediment Quality Triad complemented with bioavailability and body residue studies. • Toxicity studies for natural sediments with several organisms and endpoints • Adverse effects observed. High variation on results between different methods. • Standard toxicity tests not suitable for testing, too low pH hampers the results. There are several methods for studying metal-contaminated freshwater sediments, but more information is needed on which methods to include in ecological risk assessment. In this study, we compliment the traditional Sediment Quality Triad (SQT) approach – including information on c…
Assessment of bioavailability and effects of chemicals due to remediation actions with caging mussels (Anodonta anatina) at a creosote-contaminated l…
2002
A study was conducted at Lake Jämsänvesi in Central Finland, to identify the potential ecotoxicological risks of the remediation operation of a creosote-/PAH-contaminated lake sediment, made by capping during the years 1998-1999. Mussels (Anodonta anatina) were deployed to the lake at the same time as the remediation operation was started in November 1998. The contaminated area (0.5 ha) was covered by a filter geotextile (polypropylene), gravel and sand (1-1.5m) which were spread out on the ice and let to sink onto the bottom of the lake when the ice melted in May 1999. The possible impacts of capping to the adjacent environment were assessed from mussels exposed and particulate material se…
